Any time he spends on stream, be it leveling or raiding or explaining the intricacies of how he can get the tip of his terracotta gnome to reach his small intestine, is not a waste because he is profiting from it. Him losing a level 60 character is not dozens of hours wasted, that's an excuse for like five more twelve hour long streams where all he has to do is grind and make stupid amounts of money. It's not like he gains more from spending his time from doing literally anything else, he's not interested in working on his game and he has his pooner fuckslave managing the ferrets.

He stopped streaming WoW Hardcore when nobody on the server was willing to put up with his bullshit anymore after the Dire Maul roachening and subsequent quintupling down. So, yeah pretty much.

He could literally be shitting on a paper plate on stream and he'd still be grifting out donation trains. All the biggest streamers - including multiple he affiliates directly or indirectly with - make an entire business model out of doing the same early level shit over and over or outright "wasting" time. These are Twitch viewers, they're not exactly capable of the higher level thought necessary to care about max level play vs whatever key-jingling the streamer feels like doing.

As others stated, the issue isn't him choosing to keep this character via roaching or losing it, it's that he had a big crybaby meltdown when people questioned his choices and burned a lot of bridges to sate his own ego.

Skimming through one of his recent livestreams and It's really eye opening watching him actually "work" on his game for an 11 hour stream. He talks about the recent Bungie and Marathon drama a handful of times, proudly announcing how he will never work with them again. He then proceeds to spend the rest of the stream slightly modifying the hunting profession in his Minecraft MMO with the 1337 green on black hacker coding. In the end accomplishing next to nothing, if he works at this pace all the time it's no wonder Heartbound is taking so long. Here's a timelapse of that stream, the only good part of it was the intro music which I found quite soothing so I left it in.
