I feel bad for Biden. You don’t have to have cancer to realize the process sucks.
It may be too early to eulogize about him, but he was basically used as a meat shield for many years. It was an extremely complex presidency, one where he was lucid, shoved around by Jill and others, or didn’t even know where he was. But on the whole, I think he may be best remembered as a victim in his later years.
Whatever partisan stuff he did before can simply be written off as that: partisan stuff.
And the personal life angle, every democrat has skeletons like he does. It doesn’t make him uniquely terrible.
All in all I pity his fate.
Good words to say.
I think when we look back at this period of time in 100 years,
When he'd just be a figure on the wall of a history class portable, with some kid staring at it in the middle of a WW2 lesson, Wondering "Who the fuck is that guy? might as well, this shit is boring", and turns his book to the 2020's, the book would consider him someone who was led astray by the people who were really in charge.
Someone who "should" have ran in 2016 to beat Trump (who would have still lost to him, IMO), Having every single qualification against him.
Senator? Check!
Tenured? Check!
Old White guy? Check!
Vice President to one of the more popular presidents in history? Check.
But Biden wanted to step down to teach in academia. He didn't want to deal with the rigors of the office. It takes a toll on many a man. All Biden wanted to do was to retreat to Delaware, teach, and become a footnote in history, next to a Al Gore or a Walter Mondale. But, by 2019, he had that itch. He saw a DNC in disarray. no true leader stepped afoot. and so, thinking he was the perfect person. He threw his hat in the ring.
Someone who in 2020, had some semblance of lucid thoughts in 2020, that the DNC decided it would be better to suffocate Bernie Sanders one more time, Killing the "socialist" and radical support of the party, in order to get a better shot at the presidency. Someone who's campaign for president, the most important job in America was masked up hidden, his defects being cut out, hidden away due to COVID and editing, and Harris, Obama, and so many celebs in Hollywood, Mainstream Media carrying people to vote for him. With some election fraud, of course.
Someone who by 2022, had lost most of his marbles, but still had a good day or two. By 2024? Kamala was pretty much president, what with the auto pen. all Biden had to do was appear on camera, stumble through a speech, sign something on camera every few days, and then he could relax and get his ice cream while Kamala, Jill and the staff dealt with everything else.
Someone who in 2024, tried to run again, prodded by Jill. Had one of the worst debates in recent history, dropping out a week later and disappearing from the spotlight, letting the "New and improved" Diversity hire in Kamala to become the Dems nominee. Kamala, whose mistake after mistake shot down the DNC's chances of winning. Hell? There was a solid chance that Biden voted for Trump, in a final "fuck you" to the DNC for taking him out, in a last Lucid moment he had.
Now? Death is approaching. it's soon for Mr Biden. Might not be this year, even. Prostate cancer does have a high reoccurance rate, though. And the dementia? it's gonna be soon for Biden.
Folks where i'm from always say not to wish or beg for people's death. Rude thing to do, especially down the line when Death knocks on your door. He don't take no pity on nobody.
So, when Little Billy finishes reading his history book chapter about Biden, he's going to notice one thing: A old man who wanted to do the right thing in his mind, but was led astray, and now, was hated by both the left and the right. A Jimmy Carter figure, but never making it up post presidency.
It's sad to see. Prayers to the Biden family, I hope his cancer isn't too hard on him.
