TGWTG Mathew Buck / Film Brain / @FB_BMB - Whiny self-sabotaging British film reviewer, bald as Prince William, thick as Prince Harry. Welshy made him watch porn. He was not pleased. Accidentally took his mum to a sex flick. SYMBOLISM!1!1!1!

Sure, Matt, I get that you were absolutely forced at gunpoint to appear in all three Channel Awesome anniversary movies, each time with a bigger role. And I would never suggest you’re just a hollow yes-man who does what he’s told. Nothing inorganic about taking shots at Doug alongside Lewis and Allison.

After the hell that was filming Suburban Knights (at least according to the ex channel awesome guys) they could have refused to do To Boldly Flee beacuse they had to knew it was going to be even worse beforehand, or at least demand better working conditions. But no, they decided to just roll with it and let Michaud and the Walkers overwork them beacuse "hey i'm in a channel awesome special, that's gonna totally make me more famous than James Rolfe!!".

Then when NC's popularity was dying out they decided to FINALLY speak out about the horrible working conditions, not when they should have to, but years later when they had nothing to lose beacuse if they had spoken out when they were still part of channel awesome they would have been kicked out of the site and they didn't want to lose the only reason they had any relevance on the internet.

Luckily the viewership boost they all wanted to achieve didn't work beacuse people immediately saw how unbearably progressive they all are and they jump ship. Beacuse aside from that annoying todd in the shadows guy and angry joe, all of them have dying youtube channels that struggle to hit 10k per video.

Lindsay Ellis managed to turn her TGWTG career into something, namely being a published author. And she was one of the bigger names in her circle before BreadTube REALLY took off.

Crosspost. Film Brain talks about Doug’s old studio.
These losers cannot have their cake and eat it too. It can't be both terrible that Doug didn't let you use his studio, and better in the long term that you didn't use it. There are people who got blackballed in Hollywood who complain less--And also did far more with their lives--than these poncy hairdressers.

These days, the only way they can get any attention is by whining about Doug, but they have to believe that he wasn't the only reason they ever made money so they try and do this circular logic that doesn't make any sense if you think about it for more than five seconds.

If they just apologized, admitted they were overly whiny, and asked to do something with him again, Doug and Brad would probably be up for it. They didn't give a shit. But then these idiots would have to admit they aren't special and would rather starve to death than let that happen.

Or if they finally grew as people and equated the negatives of working with Channel Awesome as well as the positives, then maybe they’d be better off? I mean I’ve worked some terrible jobs before, had to deal with people I despise, but can always list the positives of the experience, and don’t spend my days bitching about it 10-15 years after the fact

Considering that Lindsay Ellis talked about film school and sets she was on, and Film Brain joined her in talking about things being amateur, probably.
For what it’s worth, even Red Letter Media couldn’t make a decent movie after multiple tries. So maybe this isn’t something you can be taught, it's innate.

I only went to the screening because I live in New York and had nothing better to do: it was her film about her abortion, and it barely qualified as a film. Not a student film, not a documentary, not even YouTube amateur hour.

Lindsay was at the mercy of Doug who wandered through the whole thing like a guy who read the Wikipedia page for “filmmaking” and decided that was enough. Lindsey admitted she had to bite her tongue constantly because Doug had no idea what he was doing and was actively wasting money while pretending he did.

Sounds like Lindsay wasn’t much better than what she was complaining about.
