An employee working in a plywood factory located in Makdumpur of Mangalore Kotwali area died suddenly on Sunday.
After the accident, the family members created a ruckus accusing the factory management of negligence. The police, who reached the spot on information, took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem and started investigation.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Janak son of Dharam Singh, a resident of Chaundaheri. He was working as a machine operator in the Premet Plywood Factory.
Janak was working on the machine when a piece of ply suddenly hit his face. He fainted on the spot.
Colleagues immediately rushed him to Vinay Vishal Hospital in Roorkee, where doctors declared him dead. As soon as the family reached the hospital after getting the news of the death, a ruckus started there.
The family alleges that there are no safety arrangements in the factory. The employees are neither given helmets nor other safety gear.
On receiving the information about the ruckus, Mangalore and Roorkee police reached the spot and handled the situation. The family remained adamant on the demand for action against the factory management and compensation.
Jhabreda MLA Virendra Jati and Bhim Army state president Mehak Singh, who reached the spot, met the victim's family and demanded compensation from the administration.
