If I had to guess, synth got a following because of the EFAP/Mauler drama that was caused by synth shitting
on the God of war ragnarok, which separated synth from the larger youtube grifter sphere.

After that, he got a lot of hate on twitter and reddit over his negative reviews of games like zelda, spiderman 2, which
in turn he made a lot of fans that thought that he was the "based", honest youtuber.

All of this happened in 2022/2023, when anti-woke, right-wing content wasn't mainstream as it is right now.

I've thought something similar, but seeing his threads I've realized the probable truth: he's successful specifically because he's that type of person.

Originally I thought if this guy has an audience of goons supporting him and insisting he can do no wrong then anyone should be able to, it can't be hard to be a better, more entertaining and charismatic person than this, but my guess is his parasocial appeal is specifically that he IS a stunted loser who throws tantrums and behaves like a bad stereotype of an incel manchild. Even other chronically depressed 30 year olds who don't have it going for them don't act as emotionally immature as this.

The problem is if he wasn't as dysfunctional as he is he wouldn't have a channel where he plays videogames constantly and whines about whether or not they're "woke" (since well adjusted adult men don't usually make that a center point of their life), he wouldn't constantly repeat nihilistic chud crap, and his pitiful audience wouldn't be drawn to someone they clearly see as some type of kindred spirit.

Basically the attitudes and habits that made him successful online to begin with are the same ones that doom him to never be successful or happy in the long term.

I don't know if anyone has posted this in the thread, i'm not going to look through all 50 pages, this thread was only at 14 pages when I looked at it in PG last week. I feel like the OP is missing the reason he was ever featured on the site in the first place. It's missing his interaction with Mauler over the most recent God of war game.
I haven't watched it in a while but from memory I thought their coverage of his video pretty well illustrated that he was genuinely bad at the game and didn't pay much attention to the story, which seriously harmed his critique. This caused a small schism in Mauler's audience at the time and in the time since synthetic man's channel grew significantly.

Personally not a fan of some of the art direction but it's weird hearing him say that the combat was shallow. I mean, the original was no Devil May Cry either, and it's not supposed to be. A deep the combat system is bottom of the totem pole for a survival horror game.

To be fair to synth the story is boring most of the time and down right marvel movie tier at worst. I made a full edit of Synth gow stream highlight, so I understand why would he get bored.

The gameplay I don't really like, it's serviceable. I agree with underthemayo in terms of gow gameplay critique.

I just don't like the Doomer attitude towards everything, It's not the first time Doom as a series has radically changed it's identity with it's sequels as compared to say CoD, and sometimes the changes are not that good. His takes just takes me back to post 2012 /v/ of gaming is dead doom posting that I just don't care for anymore.

The having two threads for fans and haters just reminds me of how Metokur used to have two threads and it usually devolves into the hate thread going insane because an alog steadily goes nuts and ruins discussion to the point the thread dies.

I actually agree with his points on gameplay, he’s a good reviewer when taking about gameplay loop and map design but he is very much a stereotypical 2017 4channer who never fucking moved on. Dude needs to look into investing money and developing a side job that can develop into a real job. Even if that job is getting technical certification.
