Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Trade places with me please. I don’t wanna hear my friends talk about Fire Emblem or Xenoblade ever again.

I think ranked mode in fps games turned me into a worse person.
I would delete Rainbow Six and Overwatch from this planet without a second thought for all the mental retardation I’ve put into those two

I agree and am the same, if only i had (or still had friends) who i play games with.

It just goes back to my point of - did the fans who made those projects contact Nintendo in any way to gain their blessing? I'm sure if the fans were clear and concise and even stress to Nintendo that no money whatsoever (including donations) is being handed to them, then I think it might've been okay.
Sega does that without problems. Why Nintendo don't? Who knows.
Palworld is not necessarily non-profit, so I don't see what your point is there.
No, but Nintendo is taking some mechanics because are "similar" to their Pokemon game which are biased as hell.
And you have to know that it is playing whack a mole when it comes to app games on those stores. It would tie anyone's hands up in legal fees just trying to pursue even one. If I was Nintendo, I'd probably be pressuring both Google and Apple to stop them since their pockets are obviously bigger to deal with in comparison. But even so, it's a matter of if it is all worth it.
Or at least release the OG games on smartphones to mitigate those rip-offs.

Because different businesses even if they operate in the same industry.

I think you need to study patents and patenting. "The first Pokémon-related patent in the United States was issued to Nintendo and Game Freak on June 26th, 2001. (I took that verbatim from a google search). Nintendo did file and renew the patent that was granted to them both in the United States and Japan. Now if Palworld developers had the money and knew of this that Nintendo hadn't yet renewed the patents or whatever, they should've pounced on it. But they didn't, they proceeded to develop the game and then release it while Nintendo renewed the patents which in turn, lead to the patent lawsuit.

And I doubt that Palworld too checked in with Nintendo/Game Freak. So you see, if you patent an idea, a mechanic .etc then too bad for others. They either work with you, a group or individual who filed the patent for a deal or they can just punch sand lest they risk patent lawsuits coming your way.

It was an example. Besides they tried releasing F-Zero 99 in 2023 and it periodically got updates and stuff added to it. You may not like it but release history says that the 22-year release gap has been broken.
Fans: Can we please have a new F-Zero game
Nintendo: Sure...we added online multiplayer to our 35-year-old game, complete with 2D tracks and 8-bit color.
Fans: ...
Nintendo: What? You said you wanted a new game, and this is technically new!

Resident Evil 4 is commonly known as a PS2 exclusive
no its not. Everyone knows it originated on gamecube and that the ps2 port all future ports were based on because of the bonus content it got is inferior. It has worse music and less enemy spawns.

But most importantly its not known as an exclusive because its on every console imaginable.

Worse textures and geometry, too. There were so few games that generation that didn't have fugly 4-bit textures because the PS2 lacked hardware texture compression.

I'm sure the HD remasters from 2013-2014 are based of the Gamecube version but with the PS2 extra content.

Yeah fuckin right. All that's going to do paint a target on your back. For what? Moral highground points? If you want to make a fan game then your job is to make it and release it. Anything that gets in the way of that is detrimental to your self-assigned duty. That means you want to keep a low profile to keep Nintendo from noticing you so you can avoid the issue of getting a C&D before it's out. If you go around advertising yourself and making your presence known then it's clear your real goal was to be an attention whore and get people to suck your dick.

So you're one of those guys who doesn't even take 5 seconds to glance over any info on a topic before you immediately open your mouth and start smugly airing your opinion. The lawsuit with Palworld has absolutely nothing to do with any patent Nintendo/Game Freak got back in 2001. Nor could it be because a patent from back then is expired by now. Despite your "duuuh you should study patents" obviously you've never done so or you'd know the basic fact that patents enter public domain and can't be renewed anymore after 20 years.

Nintendo is suing over patents they filed in late 2021 for mechanics planned for Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet. Palworld was already revealed and well into production by that point, And the patents describe rather generic gameplay mechanics that could be applied to a ridiculous number of preexisting games, like ordering pet units to do things or riding on mounts. In fact, Pocketpair themselves already used similar mechanics to those in Palworld in their game Craftopia which released in 2020. And Nintendo obviously knew their case as is was weak, since they've spent the last couple years making revisions and child patents to the ones they were suing over to keep making them more and more specific in describing exactly what the game does second-to-second and what exact buttons the player needs to press.

Shut the fuck up, faggot. Like your ass knows any better and you demonstrate that you really don't. Holy shit that whole post was absolutely nothing but just a damn one-up attempt. Go fuck yourself.

Besides, I never came in here proclaiming to have been the best fucking patent lawyer the internet has ever known. It's a simple fact of taking in what I already gathered from the things I've read and learned about patents in general. My opinions are based on that, I even clarified where I pulled my source from and in no way did I even try to apply that strictly to the Palworld/Nintendo patent lawsuit. I was trying to give a general sense, now please gouge out your eyeballs you dumbass.

theyre not, they all have less chickens. The port we keep getting is the ps2 port. Also the NTSC gamecube version was superior to other gamecube ports since they made the game much easier for other regions and those changes carried to the ps2 port too. Enemies have less hp and drop more ammo in all versions of re4 except that one.

An absolute fuck ton of negative reviews got deleted from Starfield's Steam page. It went from mixed to very positive twice.

To be fair to derpthesda though EA and Ubisoft both also do this frequently, it's scummy dishonest company 101.
Negative reviews are always a mixed beg because internet campaigns absolutely do exist. We live in a time where people will happily take money to type whatever someone wants to praise or bury a game's reputation. Just because Starfield was a shitshow doesn't mean all the anti-hype was genuine.

Nier Automata was overrated garbage with 'gimmicks' that had already been done before ala Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid.
All the narrative tricks of Automata were done better in the first nier. Its combat is just a dumbed down version of bayonetta with a leveling system that ensures youre always too strong and it has a very small enemy roster of pallette swaps. So yes, automata is overrated.

Some negative reviews are absolutely useless. I can't tell you how many times I've seen "Game wouldn't run" and Game keeps crashing" as a review just like that. That's not a review. That's a technical problem. I don't think it warrants a bad review unless the game is royally fucked. Like the many bad ports on Steam that people need to be warned about so they don't waste their money. Go to the forums first and try to solve your problem before you resort to that.

I still remember seeing, and I'm sure Fallout 1 & 2's as well as Morrowind's steam reviews are still full of these people leaving bad reviews cause they chose a shit build and arent using the correct shit. They honestly put something along the lines of "IM MISSING ALL MY ATTACKS AT POINT BLANK RANGE, THIS GAME SUCKS!!!!" My brother in Christ you chose your build!
