I took a peek lately and it sucked.
/v/ is somehow even worse than before and the whole board feels artificial with the amount of the same recurring threads and talking points, I refuse to believe that this board isn't managed by some sort of a social media agency hired to keep the engagement up
/pol/ is still full of spam, there's no actual discussion
/tg/ has the MtG generals I used to frequent but I stopped playing every week so now I don't have any incentive to go back there
/wsg/ is so slow that it still has threads from before the hack, also they still have this weird system in which people upload stuff to a dedicated thread on /wsg/ so that they can link it to an another board, altchans had this figured out back in 2015 and 4chan still can't deal with this 10 years later

Like others said, there's nothing there for me anymore as well. /g/ is still the most technologically illiterate place, /ck/ is still trash, /mu/ is still a zombie board with the kpop general and it's splinter threads keeping it barely alive, /his/ is still haploid group autism, fedora atheists, tradlarping and barely about history, and /trv/ is still full of sex tourists, or anons wishing to have a foreign girlfriend. Oh, and the typical gooner posting and ragebait twitter screenshots still clog up catalogs. Nothing truly changed.

The ai generals were some of the pettiest places I have ever seen. It would be cool to discuss imagegen somewhere, even if it's a slow discussion on this website, but it's either coomers, bitchy slap fights, and discord drama.

Anyone that still uses the site is unsavable. There are plenty of alternatives that arent completely dead. I mean i started using 4chan in 2016/17 and i feel like a oldfag simply for the fact that i ventured outside and started using actual good imageboards. I cant consider anyone that still uses 4chan a oldfag. Even though i am a newfag im still more cultured and more of a oldfag than people on 4chan. Im one of the good guys (newfag but with a oldfag mindset). I actually like discussing things. I like talking with people instead of shitting up every thread. I like writing long posts and conversing with my friends. I dont consider cuckchanners friends.

03-06 was such a small group, and we're 20 years later now, most of the userbase, and especially that part of the userbase, moved on at some point in those 20+ years.
07-09, is the bulk of what passes for oldfags now because that was the first real population boom when 4chan secularized and merged with what was really just the rest of online gaming culture.

Stormfags were more notable than they get credit for. They were always on 4chan but didn't become significant until the cancer years after Stormfront developed into a dumpster fire of glownigger activity, and they all migrated from it. That time period actually set the stage for anons' political ideas moving forward. Going from libertarian to something more right wing, hailing the fuhrer became a more earnest endeavor around then.

You simply cannot become an oldfag. You will always be a part of some new wave of faggots that ruined 4chan. They're like generations. You won't become a part of the greatest generation if you make it to 90. I started browsing in '10 and posting in '11. I'm from a different internet generation than the oldfags and my contributions would've probably been annoying and summerfaggy to the oldfags. In turn I've seen 4chan get flooded by newer faggots that ruined the site I loved.

And for what it's worth, fox called 4chan a leftwing site, and in the earlier days there were strains of both libertarianism and internet freedomlovers that thought chip technology, interconnectivity and free information could help in alleviating poverty.

Watching /pol/ the other day,probably two dats ago,there was about a 2-3 hour stretch that all the posts were generic,common of conversation between genx/z. Talking about different bands like nirvana vs alice in chains.

The reason I mention this is because all the threads felt fresh,honest-actual live input from live posters.

It did not last long though,as if someone FLIPPED A SWITCH the common standard theeads got flooded again.

Chanlords in the 00's-early 10's were -rightfully- clowning on wiggers/guidos/tapoutbros/machobros/swaggots/tryhard wannabe gangster alpha douches & phony, corporate, attention whoring mallcore groomers/scene kiddies/adjacent.

Seemed like much of the site's culture back when I initially entered the picture ('08-ish) served as a rightful cynical foil to all the trashy bullshit going on within the zeitgeist of the time (albeit admittedly expressed/engaged in an emotionally immature/cringe way in itself in retrospect; and the chaos within serving as a smokescreen for actual nefariousness ofc.)

Now it's being ruled over by today's respective equivalents ("le ebin pepe" manospherean alpha male top G Andrew Tate-stanning alt right /pol/tards + fantanodrone raptimist fuccboi hypebeast /mu/tants [typically are far left, mostly siding with BLM - just to live through ghetto black culture as a means of satiating their own masculine insecurities - and using said brogressivism as a vehicle for bullying/reactively abusing square/nerdy/unremarkable/autistic beta male white kids] being today's machowiggers, and obnoxious Y2K hyperpo[o]p rawring 20's discord mod tucute MtFs being today's mallcore poser cringelords.)

I think it is just the result of internet usage becoming normal for non-nerds. In 2008 a highschool/college aged kid would have to be a weirdo to spend his time on the internet rather than hanging out with friends or smashing puss. Using virgin as an insult was seen as stupid, bragging about sex was for people that weren't social outcasts. It was the insult a guido of the "shit was so cash" copypasta would use. 4chan was for the autist, the maladjusted, the weirdo. But as internet access and usage became more prevalent, and different generations of newfags flooded the site, the culture, and demographic changed. Suddenly >you're a loser virgin was seen as an actual put down. Regardless of how pathetic incels and virgins are, it still broke the ideal of the 4chan user as this weird mancave dweller.

It's the same old eternal september event. When internet was restricted to college campuses, the existing userbase would have to resist a wave of newfags every september, but by october the new users would either stop using it or adopt the culture. When AOL rolled out the flood of newfags was much larger and constant, wiping away the old internet culture. Chanology, gamergate, trump election, fappening, gamergate, a new generation that grew up with internet in their hand, and botting, is the 4chan equivalent. Too many users coming in at the same time, unable to be assimilated by the existing userbase. All with a different culture they end up enforcing onto the website.
That's also why you cannot be an oldfag. Oldfags were the first wave, and were SA goons that moved over with their own culture. As 4chan memes like coolface spread, they were displaced by a wave of newfags, forever altering the site. In turn they saw the site as they liked it change forever by the next wave.

I think that's also why there are so many twitter screencaps. For the newer, younger, user, twitter is a part of the internet they grew up with. Social media being cancer is incomprehensible. Getting (You)s is like getting your post shared on other social media. Engagement is seen as good, even if it are a bunch of bots and schizos having a meltdown. Even if you repost the same tired thread with the same tired "what did he mean by this" OP.

I think I’m finally done with 4chan. Been there since 2006 but the current batch of jannies have made most boards unusable. The site is somehow even worse since coming back. Light banter? Banned. Calling someone brown or a nigger? Banned. Calling out obvious discord tranny raids that the jannies are a part of? Brother, you better believe that’s a ban. The knuckle dragging, jigaboo shitskins that run /v/ seem to be the biggest, most thin-skinned bitches of all. They finally did it, they made the place into reddit. No wonder the site is slow as fuck now. No point in using it anymore. The Jews won.
