@Vyse Inglebard

The reviews have come out. The leak was all real, Jumba’s the antagonist, and Nani ends the movie going off to college.
You know you've lost faith when you're not surprised at history repeating itself and the execs learning nothing from it..

..........

My anger is fully spent at this point. my only hope (which is dwindling by the second) is that the marketing and (paid) positive critical reception doesn't work and it bombs. But I fully expect this thing to make a bajillion dollars just to spite me. COME ON, CLOWN WORLD! DISAPPOINT ME!

I'm not even the biggest fan of Lilo and Stitch, but part of what makes the movie work is that the movie does not need an antagonist.

These live action remakes be like "Let's do what we did before ... But make it shit."

Anyone know how this movie is tracking? Last thing we need is for this to make a billion dollars and for Disney to get back to churning out this sludge. Let's not undo the good that came from the Snow White remake bombing spectacularly, kthx.

While she's not wrong, at least we're not being actively hated on by anime itself while Disney properties actively go out of its way to say "Stop breathing and die, whitey". :^D
True, lol.

Weeaboos have scored two wins:

1. The stuff they consume not hating them, like you said.

2. I don't see many people make fun of weeaboos anymore. With the rise of the Disney adults and the focus of them becoming the internet's punching bags, weeaboos have finally been given a break and don't really get picked on anymore. lol.

In the 2010's, it was the weeaboos. In the 2020's, it's the Disney Adults.

LMAO so they're completely diminishing everything about the original? The found family message, as others have said the movie also being nuanced in that there isn't some persistent or evil villain. I almost wanna say I'm not surprised but modern writers can't be THAT retarded to completely miss the point of an early 2000's kids movie.

Snow White had a million controversies attached to it and Rachel Zegler tanking the reputation. So far all this movie's marketing has been just clips and occasional interviews. Its likely going to do well on that metric alone, its not like families have anything else to watch until the Summer properly arrives. I mean they could watch the original but thats too "boring" gotta see NEW thing and talk about it for a week before NEW thing #2 or 3 comes along.

Remember:

"Put a chick on it and make it lame and gay!"
It still applies.

Sadly, the woke are slowly but surely corrupting Japan already, with all of the body type nonsense creeping into Japanese games, or the shameless rewriting of dialogues at random.

I'm not that fan of L&S and the LA version sounds bland at best.

Yep. I had this 20 year old meme in my mind from this.
True and honest meme.

It's a shame.

Speaking of shame...
Dang dirty imposter.

They really leaned into modern sensibilities here. It feels more like a fan animation than an actual teaser. I don’t even think the last movie’s advertising pushed them that hard.

I'm sure at this point, they have no better ideas on how to sell this besides "Here's our ol' pals again, oh and here's a snake!". Makes the first movie's teaser more interesting in what it sets up.

Zootopia was a cute movie when I saw it (even if the "race" allegory was on-the-nose), but the Zootopia fandom has ruined it.

After watching JLongbone do videos on that infamous Zootopia "abortion fan comic" and its sequels, I've never been able to see Zootopia the same way again. lol.

You couldn't pay me to go to the movies to see the sequel. Nobody talks about Zootopia anymore except for the furry degenerates.

>predators and prey live and work side-by-side
>predators are apparently barely concealing their true savage natures beneath a brittle, easily cracked veneer of social expectation

What did they mean by this? 🤔

I guess all this time, I thought of Zootopia as a classic Disney Afternoon series like DuckTales or TaleSpin, with stupid fun adventures with these characters we watched for as long as the franchise could hold for a few years. There was potential in comics that never happened (at least we didn't have another Don Rosa situation).

It gets better: Predators are a minority that is ostracized for instincts they no longer affect them (except the odd lunatic) by the herbivores, and there's a particularly nasty, petty, evil white sheep that orchestrates a plan to all but enslave them for personal gain, going as far as to artificially trigger said instincts to cause hysteria.
