He fled Singapore to evade his mandatory military service and used his prior arrests to claim asylum. He still owes Singapore his service time
Yes, he also offended their president or monarch or whatever which is a grave offense, if I recall correctly. Why we didnt send him back after he was convicted is just another mystery of suicidal empathy.

Nah it wasn't a grave offence to insult our founding father Lee Kuan Yew (however stupid he sounded + I'm sure it wasn't gonna help his case lol, but the point is people do criticise LKY a lot here without much issues), he was sent to prison for criticising both Islam and Christianity which is kind of a big no-no in a land where religious extremists of all sorts get legally detained without trial. Religion and racial issues are just things you don't fuck around here in Singapore. If he had just criticised LKY without calling him Jesus Christ he would probably have been fine (albeit probably being monitored by the glowies since he was kinda a child movie star at that point).

A teenage blogger has been handed a prison sentence after he was found guilty by a Singapore court of "wounding religious feelings".

Amos Yee, 17, will spend six weeks in jail for deliberately posting videos and comments critical of Christianity and Islam.

Judge Ong Hian Sun told the court that Yee's actions could "generate social unrest".

It is the teenager's second prison sentence in two years.

Yee was jailed for four weeks in 2015 for criticising Christians, and was accused of insulting Lee Kuan Yew after he posted a video online in which he likened the late Singaporean leader to Jesus Christ.

Such actions are considered a serious crime in a country which takes a zero-tolerance approach towards insults of race and religion.

Yee, who was accompanied to court on Thursday by his mother, told reporters that his sentence was "fair", adding that he was "very remorseful".

The teenager's latest trial was closely watched by rights groups, who argue that the case threatens freedom of expression.

Phil Robertson of Human Rights Watch said Singapore now needs to review its approach in dealing with cases like Yee's, who is likely to benefit from the publicity.

"Every time the authorities go after him, it just adds to his online audience," said Mr Robertson in an email.

I know the UK government refused to deport an African pedophile rapist because if he went back to his shithole he might be executed and that violates muh hooman rights. Luckily I don’t think the U.S. believes in such cucked nonsense, especially with the current administration.
Most of the people that the US deports are going to concentration camps in El Salvador I don't think they'll care too much about a pedophile service dodger from Singapore

Reactions: megafag
If he does get deported the government will just send him to a concentration camp in El Salvador like everyone else
That would be the worst outcome. Any guard-on-prisoner or prisoner-on-prisoner violence in CECOT would be entirely random and passionless. Amos needs to be deported to Singapore so any and all fans of Lee Kuan Yew or religious zealots can pile in and beat the ever living shit out of him every single day for the duration of his sentence (and hopefully the duration of his lifetime).

I was just misremembering this. Thought he was charged with insulting the founding father, but you're right it was just religious stuff. We should still send him back.
Also it wasn't his mentor, just some random Christian who he later accused of pedo shit. What a despicable person.

Not any random Christian, but one who actually.... bailed him out. I'm not religious by any means but that was seriously fucked up by Amos Yee to actually go all "teehee I was just trolling lol" on a random kind stranger. Even the most anti-Singapore government types of people or free speech activists would have run out of any sympathy for him at this point of time.

SINGAPORE - Barely a day after he was convicted and released on bail, teenage blogger Amos Yee alleged that he had been molested by Mr Vincent Law, a family and youth counsellor who had stepped forward to bail him out.

Then a few hours later, after Mr Law told several media outlets that the allegation was "false", Yee posted again on Facebook to announce that it was all a lie. "Vincent Law didn't really molest me, haha," he wrote. "Though he is immensely creepy. I'll save the specific details for another time."

The 16-year-old admitted that the entire post was "a troll" to trick the media. "I manipulated the press to indulge in the thoroughly exhausting experience of waiting in Pasir Panjang fruitlessly for several hours, which they did with their 'diligence'. They are all quite obscure and hard places to reach in Singapore aren't they?" he wrote just before 9.45pm.

At 2.40pm on Wednesday, Yee had made a lengthy post on Facebook inviting the media to "catch" him as he exited Pasir Panjang MRT station at around 3 or 4pm.

The 16-year-old wrote that if they did, he would "clear the air" and "reveal that little tidbit of information on how (his) ex-bailor, Vincent Law, molested (him)".

When contacted, Mr Law told the Straits Times: "I deny this very serious and false allegation that he has made. I have no idea why he would say that."

Yee's lawyer Alfred Dodwell said that the post took him by surprise.

"He's never communicated this to me or my team."

He said he had not spoken with the teenager since they parted ways on Tuesday, when Yee was found guilty of uploading an obscene image and making remarks intending to hurt the feelings of Christians, after a two-day trial last week.

Yee has since taken down the offending YouTube video and post that got him convicted from his blog.

The blogger was charged in court on March 31, four days after uploading the video criticising the late Mr Lee. A day after he put up the video, he uploaded an image illustrating two people having sex, on which he superimposed the faces of Mr Lee and former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Yee will be sentenced on June 2, pending the outcome of a probation report.

On Tuesday, the court reduced the bail sum to $10,000, with no conditions attached. The previous bail amount was $30,000 and as part of his bail terms, Yee was not allowed to post anything online.
