edit: I did not expect to get 100 responses to this but if you're going to reply PLEASE (1) explain why a sex trafficking charity in Southwest Minnesota is a bad pick and (2) pick something as close to Spicer as possible and explain why it's a better pick. I'm not donating to the national orgs like GOA, NRA, NAACP and I'm not donating it to USIPS.

I'd suggest carving out +/- $500 for Evangelical Covenant Christian Church of New London, but it might be too on the, ahem, nose.

If these kids get through this mess, it will be due to that church.

I know food banks have seen huge increases in people needing support in the last year and food insecurity is rising in households with children. Maybe some money could go to that?

What about the National Association for Children of Addiction? They're a charitable organization that helps out children and families affected by addict parents. Rackets may be a very visible example of what happens when you let your addiction rule your life and creep into the lives of the people you are responsible for, but there's thousands and thousands of others who will be affected in similar, less visible situations who may not get access to the resources and support they need.

You can always do a specific type of animal charity. I like to support greyhound rescues, because greyhounds are good dogs (unlike shitbulls) and they need somewhere to go when they're retired from being used as racing dogs.

They need to update their f'ing website. Their last tax filing was '23, which may be ok given their calendar year. Most of their costs are in payroll, which I think would be common for this work. Here's a recent workshop they gave:

There are race-specific dog charities where the money will not go to shitbulls. I have never heard of MNSWCC but it seems so generic it's useless.

I like the children of addiction suggestion, but there are also animal charities that don’t deal with pitbulls. I’m probably in the minority here in preferring the latter, but you could maybe do a wildlife rescue in honor of the coons or an animal rescue that rehomes cats and dogs from high-kill shelters or something.

I will donate a KNU. Animal shelters are great too, and if people bitch about the toddlerchewers, there are shelters for rehabing animals that are supposed to be out in the wild. You know, like raccoons that probably don't deserve to be trapped and then have their skulls caved in with a ballpeen. Not familiar with the MN ones though.
