how long until tf2 newfags/troons and r/tf2 niggers start whining? i already saw a video on my youtube feed from a literal who claiming it will restart the bot crisis (because how dare someone call them a mean word on TF2, or micspaming some funny clips)
Outside of the most retarded white-knights, are people actually complaining about this? I thought Valve worshippers we're acting like this because it was just what Valve was doing (Or lack thereof), and of course Valve has to be treated like they can do no wrong and every action they take must be held with praise, instead of F2P's actually "ruining" the experience. Maybe I'm just underestimating this, but everyone can act like they're the noble saviors of TF2 when they really hold no power at all. Only daddy Valve gets to change the game. Can't imagine anyone keeping up a retarded facade like that after the nail was hammered in by the company they hold dear in their hearts.

never underestimate the sheer bootlicking and retardation of valve fanboys. they are the reason i consider PC fanboys just as bad as nintendrones or sony ponies/xbots. its just more acceptable to bootlick for valve because "muh halflife/steamdeck/etc"

To be fair, Valve is probably the only AAA company that doesn't treat it's consumerbase like cattle. Although, the standard is seriously NOT high at all.

I personally find Linux users way more annoying.

well now Linux troons and valvefags now have huge overlap due to steamOS/Steam Deck, so yeah :(

My only high opinion on Valve is that Steam is objectively the best PC platform and that's less of how good Steam is and just how shit everyone else, except maybe GOG.com, is.

I like Linux because it's just not modern Windows. I miss when changing what sound device I was using was at most two clicks away and not buried under two or three submenus and also when the OS just did what it needed to. I remember using older Windows versions where the customizing was adding new features to make the experience better. New windows is finding out how to turn off excessive and invasive bloat. That said, the Linux community is fucking insufferable.

Valve has treated the game that even got me on Steam in a less than impressive way. Yes, TF2 is fucking ancient by videogaming standards, hell the game is so old that it barely even touches the power of modern GPU for favor of using CPU power since when it came out GPUs were often an afterthought for PCs. But regardless of how old the game is, Valve still monetizes it and at bare minimum it should be functional while they do. Whatever they did to remove the bots isn't really so much a good start as much as it is just making the game playable. Casual fucking blows still, and I'm not even a community server shill. I mostly played in the ad-hoc Valve quickplay servers pre-MYM. And bullshit that players need matchmaking to find servers. The first games I ever played online was Minecraft, where you have to MANUALLY add servers, and using the server browser in TF2. If players as young as single digit age can go online, find a server IP, paste it into their game, then teenager to adult players can find the fucking server browser and load a lobby. TF2 YouTube and Reddit are the lowest common denominator and if they're too stupid to understand how actually simple and superior the old server system was then I don't want them here anyway, get filtered.

@Adeptus Retardes I'm a bit ashamed to admit this... but I got into the game not long after quickplay got removed. To be fair, that was like... almost 10 years ago and now I have 700+ hours in the game, but I, alongside many people, simply have no clue what quickplay was like. For contrast, when I started, I was still in middle school and now I'm old enough to pass for a master's degree student.

But it does sound like Valve will inevitably revert matchmaking back to some sort of quickplay system to save on money on running servers and updating their anti-cheat. I mean, they already outsource the creation of any new cosmetics to the community, and with the game's source code publicly available to the community, it could lead to a self-sustaining community that just makes their own game modes and modifications. TF2 has potential to turn into Dwarf Fortress in that sense (no pun intended).

Take it from someone who joined tf2 the second it went Free to play and had 2,000 hours: it really was a lot better. Just picking a gamemode and hopping into a pre-packed server, to duke it out for however long you want without ever needing to leave; was the best. We really didn't realize how good we had it until it was gone. Glad Zesty Jesus has been trying to lead the charge on getting Quickplay brought back. It really would help with the health of the active playerbase.

On a more retarded note, I noticed how much the Mobster looks like my shitty avatar so here's a quick photoshop:

I WANNA GO BACK.

I WANNA GO BAAAACK.

I WANNA PLAY DOOMSDAY AGAIN.

Now that sounds straight up alien to me. How was it to play Pyro when they couldn't airblast yet?
Well since airblasting wasn't a thing at the time, it didn't really feel like you were missing out on anything. Same with not being able to haul buildings as Engineer. You just rebuilt in a new spot. That was the norm.

The meta was also different. Since you didn't have classes with dousing weapons or fire resistance/immunity, and fire always burned for its full duration, you used to get a lot more afterburn kills and assists back in the day.

W+M1 Pyro was hated not because it was powerful, but because people hated it when a Pyro jumped off a ledge, breakdanced in the middle of their push, and set everybody on fire for no effort (ignoring that they got flanked in the process, of course).
