Two Israeli Embassy staff members were shot and killed during an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night, authorities confirmed.

Tal Naim Cohen, a spokesperson for the Israeli embassy in the capital, confirmed to Fox News that two diplomats were shot "at close range" during a Jewish event at the museum. The American Jewish Committee confirmed it was hosting the event in a post on X.

"We have full faith in law enforcement authorities on both the local and federal levels to apprehend the shooter and protect Israel’s representatives and Jewish communities throughout the United States," Cohen said.

Fox News confirmed a man and a woman were both killed in the shooting. Further details on their identities were not immediately available.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said DHS is "actively investigating" the incident and "working to get more information to share."

"Please pray for the families of the victims. We will bring this depraved perpetrator to justice," Noem wrote on X.

The Metropolitan Police Department said a shooting investigation was underway near 3rd Street and F Street Northwest, which is where the Capital Jewish Museum is located.

Danny Danon, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, said an event was taking place at the museum and the deadly shooting was a "depraved act of anti-Semitic(sic) terrorism" in a statement posted to X late Wednesday night.

"Harming diplomats and the Jewish community is crossing a red line. We are confident that the US authorities will take strong action against those responsible for this criminal act. Israel will continue to act resolutely to protect its citizens and representatives – everywhere in the world," he wrote.


Fox News Digital has reached out to DC police, the Israeli embassy and the Capital Jewish Museum.

If the dude really was (and it's looking so) with the PSL, I can't say I find that surprising. They make a point of collecting the most unstable but pliable dudes they can. In the past they've (allegedly) had members who would run guns for cartels to raise secret funds, but that was years ago. I can't say at all I'm surprised one of their public members would do this, but I don't doubt for a second he acted alone and without the rest of the party knowing. The PSL is too chickenshit, too tied up in grifting for rich liberal money to actually be sending hitmen against embassy staff, especially not someone who's name is publicly connected to their picture-perfect Party™. No group on the left is that militant, that serious. The Gonzaloite Maoists might have been by now if their sect didn't fracture apart into little nothingburgers four years ago, but even then, not even they were set up to do something like this.

tl;dr: I'm certain the guy was a lone wolf, but groups like PSL gather and psychically bolster guys like this. The radical leftist environment he's a part of unintentionally fueled him to do this, even if it wasn't trying to.

To be clear, I love random acts of violence against our collective enemy as much as anyone, but what I'm getting at here is that this guy was just a deranged idiot. Two embassy staff will accomplish nothing, no one will follow him and get the rest. Tel Aviv Delenda Est.

Well the difference is that a) the Luigi guy was (according to every woman I've talked to about the shooting with) very very attractive. b) healthcare companies suck, and It was very clear that Luigi did it because he felt personally fucked over by the healthcare company (something which many people can relate with).

Eyewitness says DC shooter pretended to be a witness and waited for police to arrive​

The man accused of killing a young couple outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night “pretended to be a witness” and waited for police to arrive for over 10 minutes before claiming he “did it for Gaza,” eyewitness Sara Marinuzzi told CNN.

Marinuzzi, 28, said gunshots rang out shortly after the event ended at 9 p.m.

“There were some more shots and then a guy came running into the center, and the security guards offered him water, trying to comfort him. He was kind of having erratic behavior. They figured he witnessed the shooting,” Marinuzzi said.
The man asked security to call the police, Marinuzzi said. Once police arrived about 10 minutes later, Marinuzzi said the man took accountability for the crime, saying “I did it, I did it for Gaza. Free Palestine!”
