AI Derangement Syndrome / Anti-AI artists / Pro-AI technocultists / AI "debate" communities - The Natural Retardation in the Artificial Intelligence communities

remember when unions were about actually protecting laborers? these fucks can't get replaced fast enough.
if you've been following the recent shitshows with SAG-aftra trying to strongarm game studios into signing documents for "non union" games that make it so it's basically only their guys allowed to voice act and anyone who wants to do it has to go through an expensive fucking membership process yeah you'd know just how fucking scummy they've been the last year or so.

The way this vader shit was framed by their guys on social media they acted like "oh well ai is taking the jobs voice actors should be able to do!"
and it's a fucking chatbot with a james earl jones TTS voice that you would in no way shape or form be able to have someone voice every one of the MILLIONS of sessions with it, something they of course fucking skirt over unless that changed.

The lawsuit isn't about respecting James Earl Jones' will or using AI per se; it's about the company failing to give a unionized worker the role they had previously agreed to provide.

What if the project goes under? What if they cut the Vader character entirely? Can SAG sue you for NOT using a character, thus NOT giving some dogshit impressionist VA work?

This is why unions only really positively work for professions with serious physical danger. Anywhere else, it just turns into HR machiavellism

I got alerted to this.

I think it should be told Discord allows you to ban anyone even if they never once joined your server.
Yep, banning some user ID is definitely going to stop the company that runs Discord and hosts all Discord servers and doesn't implement end-to-end encryption from accessing things posted on said servers. Humanity is saved!

You still haven't explained why you think what they're doing is wrong.
Everyone talking about this case keeps ignoring the most obvious fucking fact in the room. The way fortnite matches work, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to have someone voice acting darth vader. There is a very clearly obvious and technical reason behind why vader is a TTS chatbot using a james earl jones voicebank. Matches are too frequent, numerous, and scattershot to have a guy or even a group of guys doing vader impressions waiting for one guy to MAYBE decide to kill the darth vader boss and then get him in their party. To highlight and emphasize further, No human, nor group of humans could shoulder the burden of that much work, as there are too many "places" running at once.

The only thing even remotely close to a "case" they would have is if fortnite okayed a soundalike for the voice bank, but that doesn't seem to be what the case is here. it's "oh you should have hired a sound alike because you've worked with us int he past and also made it so they voice vader instead of ai because ai bad" because we now live in this duplicitous world where chatbots and text to speech are treated like some extremely new wizard magic despite both existing for over 20 years thanks to marketing bullshit and duplicitous people seeking some form of short term profit. Recently SAG-AFTRAS been using the ai boogeyman as a cudgel to try and gain a monopoly over stuff, the most recent case that's still ongoing is them trying to get the genshin impact guys to sign some legal agreement that they framed as "oh just ai protections" but then no, it was shit that was basically going to force anyone who wanted to VA for the game to join SAG-AFTRA by paying expensive fucking fees.

This dude is giveing off some mad preacher vibes;

REPENT I SAY!!!! REPENT!!!! REJECT THE ARTIFICIAL DEVIL AND ALL HIS GROTESQUE WORKS!!!!
Of course it's another fucking furry. Not a single word of that shit he said is true, except for maybe "creatives" in his furry community, since basically that entire fetid ecosystem survives on SSD checkes and $50 commissions for basic bitch fetish works.

Then they should have paid a voice actor to record a few thousand lines, and then either made them appear in the game under specific circumstances (with all other cases not recorded covered by the TTS) or not used the recorded lines at all.
That's not how this works. They had an idea to put a chatbot of darth vader using a james earl jones voice bank in the game as a temporary and unique event gimmick, and they did it. There's already extremely specific circumstances to unlock said chatbot each match. You have to be the first to kill the vader NPC that spawns on on the map when the match starts. Look at any video of the vader that isn't just a meme compilation of the things they've gotten the chatbot to say and you'll immediately realize why what you're proposing would not have worked.

They were free to implement the gimmick however they wanted, but they still had a contractual obligation to hire a voice actor during production. As I said, they should have paid an actor to record some lines, regardless of whether they decided to use them.
If they did that, then there'd be a lawsuit over them not using the other voice guy and using the TTS vader instead, and there would be an actual case against epic. Hell, that'd make their ai boogeyman argument shit they've been using more "real" too!

Actors are paid for their work, regardless of whether a project is completed. This happens all the time in the industry. Sometimes, projects are never meant to be finished and are only done out of contractual obligations or other legal reasons.
Then James Earl Jones or any actor shouldn't be paid because they did no additional work to get Vader voiced in Fortnite.

What the fuck is this level of redundant bureaucracy. What is the point of going through the process and resources to do a recording they know for a fact they aren't using it. This feels like a more blatant waste of money than using it on AI.
