Maddox / George Ouzounian / George Schnoz - OG Internet blogger, Author of the NYT bestseller Alphabet of Manliness, Cohost of the Biggest Problem in the Universe, Filer of the Lolsuit. MADDOX BLAST!

That one was pretty brutal though. It reminded me of when Chris used to get enraged at being called Ian Brandon Anderson because he thought everyone doing it literally believed that was his name.

He came across as an angry old man who didn't understand the Internet. This is bad if you made your whole career out of being le edgy Internet guy.

It was really bad though. It's as if he didn't understand the concept that people will call you names that get you riled up because they want to rile you up. It's like he took a double dose of autism pills that morning.

I still think Maddox is hilarious. I've been a fan of his for a long time. He's been doing this since 1998 or so when it was just him writing occasional rants. Personally I didn't find him until 2002 but he is still very funny. He has a lot of these "fair-weather" fans that don't really understand his satire and get mad when he pokes fun at their favorite thing/band/Helen Hunt.

I have to say it's an honor to be a Lolcow if Maddox is one as well.

You, uh... Didn't read the thread, did you?

Yeah this one already has wayyyy more views than pretty much any other video of his in that time frame, and a better like-to-dislike ratio than most/all of them.

On a more opinion based note, I don't think the drop in quality really happened until around the "No one uses the word 'cuck' correctly" video from a year (give or take) ago. Within the last 1-2 years we've had the aforementioned Life Hack episode, Wage Gap, Spiderwoman's Ass, Hates Stories in Video Games and the one about Let's Plays...Haha okay that's only five but for post-200x Maddox that's a lot of good content in that amount of time.

Not really disagreeing with anything you said, just sperging and trying to
pinpoint what I believe to be the turning point (Spring 2016).
I think a great example of the drop in quality is his irrational hatred of cyclists article/video. It's a particularly good example because it sucks, and not because maddox is being hypocritical or being a cuck or anything, but just because it's just bad writing.

He starts off the video kind of strong: talking about how motorists whine about cyclists, but then at some point he swings over to the other side, explaining how some complaints about cyclists are justified, and then just kind of ends with this middling rant where he doesn't say anything conclusive. He basically says "grr, people can be irrational sometimes on both ends of an argument, grrr!!"

It's... limp.

Well, one thing I didn't get about the cuck spergout he had: he kind of presented cuckoldry as some vanilla fetish, like if someone was into asians or midgets or farting porn. So he was like "lol, it's a fetish, why is that an insult??"

But that's retarded. It's a fetish specifically for the emasculation aspect. The reason why the insult is meant to be insulting should be completely obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Or, I don't know, maybe I spend too much time on the internet and this isn't common knowledge?

Nah, you're good. Anyone with common sense who's been to a porn site or seen the word used to call someone out for supremely beta actions knows what the word means.

Maddox seems to have a problem with how language evolves, as evidenced in the Cuck and Epic videos (though I'm still with him on "epic"; that shit was getting outta hand a few years ago).

On his new podcast he initially tried to "argue" both sides of a debate, then have a poll where people guess which side he really believes and he'll reveal it next episode. At first he kept acting like it was some big mystery and he was such a complex, unreadable guy even though we've all known his feelings on life from two decades of his writing and he argued way more enthusiastically for one side and just went through the motions for the other. Once he realized that over 90% of voters were correctly guessing his position every week, he switched to the cop-out of claiming each time he was "somewhere in the middle" in a smug tone as if he was so enlightened for it (though of course you still knew which way he leaned by how much effort he put into one side versus the other). He seems unaware of the fact that 99% of humanity is also "somewhere in the middle" on every issue there is, that he's not the only person who recognizes that shit isn't black and white all the time, but then again it's difficult for autisms to realize that other humans aren't just NPCs.

I think the modern version is "I can't even".

i personally love how people on the internet started getting mad that "cuck" was stale and overused a month after it became popular, and i fully intend to be constantly overusing the word well into 2030.
It's such a weird phenomenon. It is super overused, but I also constantly see uses that play that up and end up being super funny.

It's not even fun to say it ironically anymore

The word will never not be funny. And when you call a conservative a cuck, they go apeshit. It truly is a wonderful time to be alive.

Interdasting. @asterios probably knows more than me, but..

It looks like Kendal Hyde, that manpurse company Maddox was shilling for, failed to renew kendalhyde.com -- the 2nd highest result for their brand name on Google. Dick now owns it.

George already scrubbed all the associated hyperlinks from the text elements of his site (someone on reddit or fb must have snitched), but in almost every episode of his "Biggest Debate" podcast, he opens by plugging the promotional manpurse web URLs, and it is unlikely he will have time to edit out all that audio.

I'm still kind of blown away by the 4-page screed he made on Somethingawful about the evils of using your website to make money, and his apparent belief that no one else understood Lowtax was making money from all that tenbux until he blew the lid on it. I know it was ten years ago but given how proud he still is of his website being ad-free I assume he's still hypocritical about his own money-making attempts.

Despite the fact his ad-free claim is a falsehood, he hasn't posted an article to his website in years and it now only exists to promote his infrequent youtube videos, which are full of ads.

What is this guy going to do when he's 50?

I'm not old enough to remember when he was popular, but he should have realised that being an internet comedian probably isn't a viable long term career plan. Does he have any qualifications he could use, or is he going to end up working at Walmart?

I remember an episode of the Dick Show a while back where Dick comments on how proud Maddox is of his programming skills and how useful they were in propping up the biggest problem website, but the reality was that Maddox's skills were clearly 20 years out of date and not much more than amateur even when they were current and that Dick had to basically clean up after Maddox's code all the time. Combined with how proud Maddox still is of writing 2,000 lines of code for his little chat/multimedia sharing program when writing his book - which is both not much code at all, and also seemingly unnecessary because there were chat/email programs that allowed for sharing of multimedia files to be found easily in the mid 2000's - I'm guessing the answer is that no, he doesn't really have any marketable skills. His only marketable possession is the Maddox brand and he's spent several years pissing that into the gutter.
