Today marks 7 years since TotalBiscuit passed away at the age of 33. It's hard to believe it's been so long already, and certainly his legacy has outlasted a lot of the gravedancing freaks who celebrated his death due to perceived wrongthink.
Though it's unfortunate that his brand has since become so obscure, in part due to TotalBiscuit's unwillingness to accept his fate and pass on the torch to Genna. If he ever truly realized he was screwed, it was far too late to do anything.
Reading from about page 94 you can follow some of the commentary of his final moments as this was when it was revealed the cancer metastasized to his spine and he was still holding out hope for a miracle clinical trial. Or alternatively from this post where it was announced his chemo had stopped working.
The most important lesson you can learn from reading the morbid details is to not do what TotalBiscuit did. Do not ignore symptoms such as changes to your bowel habits, mucus, blood or discoloration in your stool. Don't be afraid of a colonoscopy, the procedure is painless. TB ignored these symptoms for over a year and suffered immensely as a result.

I think I care less about his commentary than I do about borderlands 4. The past two games have been shit and in retrospect 2 hasn't aged great either. So why would I go buy the 4th one in the series if the trend is downwards. Something something Jim's career, same reason why I'm not watching his slop even as a drinking game.

Totalbiscuit is such a weird, sad story.
It cannot be overstated how much he helped out Indie gaming in his early-mid days on YouTube. An absolute shitton of games got some much-needed showcasing via his channel. And he was unintentionally doing the "Play this cool game frustratingly bad and people will buy it just so they can play better" marketing strategy decades ahead of its time.
Just off the top of my head his "WTF is...?" series really helped: Terraria, Project Zomboid, Starsector (It went by Starfarer back then), Warframe, Risk of Rain, Bastion (The devs would later create Hades), Darkest Dungeon, and FTL. They all got a MASSIVE benefit from being featured by him and are still going strong to this day.
But then it went to his head. He started seeing himself as some sort of "Kingmaker of Indie Games" who could make a game blow up or get buried if he felt like it. He started being a self-important asshole, releasing spergy videos about "The proper way to offer your game" to him and other arrogant nonsense.
It got worse as time went on. He started calling himself a "Speaker for the Indie Community" and making preachy videos about how he thought things in the industry should be done and how evil the AAA gaming industry was...
While simultaneously selling out with "Not sponsored" WTF...is?" episodes shilling mainstream, AAA games like Mass Effect Andromeda, Wolfenstein II: The New Collossus, Titanfall 2, Halo Wars, Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, and Civilization 6.
Most of his content became fart-huffing podcasts with other content creators, as he started getting a reputation for being so much of an asshole that a lot of Indie devs that previously would've killed to be on his series actively avoided him.
His last days, when the cancer really set in, he was basically alone with his tiny circle of hangers-on (Jessie and Dodger, IIRC), suffering from a particularly bad case of Trump Derrangement Syndrome, and posting 24/7 on Twitter.
Fittingly, his last podcast was with future Troon Jim Sterling. He refused to pass his YouTube channel on to anyone, demanding it to be left alone as a bizarre memorial to his ego.
And, in what is possibly his lolcow swan song, he pissed off his wife so much by refusing to let her continue the channel...
That she drained his bank accounts, moved to South Korea, "lost a hundred pounds" (Allegedly had the weight loss and cosmetic surgeries South Korea is famous for), and started marketing herself as an "Hot Gamer-Girl Streamer". All while he was still dying in his hospital bed and sperging about Trump Supporters on Twitter. He sure knew how to choose 'em

It's likely got to do with how Nintendo rarely ever lowers the prices of their games on their own storefront. So those people are probably anticipating it from other companies.
Granted, there's always the possibility of getting games from third-party sellers, but those aren't necessarily a guarantee of a lower cost.

because half price of 60 is 30, 70 is 35, and 80 is 40. total damage depends on the game and console, if you're on pc, you'll find a good sale on your g2a etc or steam, though steam has officially started doing more equalized sales often instead of fire sales occassionally. back on point, places like your gamestop rely on multiple factors, like take a noted hit like red dead redemption 2. for console the price will stay high for a very long time, and used will be like 5 dollars off. basically about the time all your friends would stop playing it and you don't remember it too great then you can get it for half. additionally, i've notice several games on steam retroactively increase price. i've only noticed it on some gooner make-a-gf games but they went from static 60 to 80 with no changes and being several years old. many devs just smell blood in the water and decide to raise their price since nintendo did or whatever. again though it's percentages, especially for console users, games always hit a point where they stabilize, like even at the end of a console 60 average game life cycle you're not going to get a gta 5 or rdr 2 for below 15. as the prices go up, the consistent minimum goes up, and as the cherry on top, as noted, the overall quality of everything goes down and the troon shit goes up, troonery and forced BLAK KWAYNE OF COLORS has begun going down, but only after countless franchises are now dead. an argument could be made for gta 6 being more expensive. but it would always require defending da veilguard being 80.
imo the biggest fundamental flaw of borderlands is that they make, build, and kill characters unironically more than game of thrones does, and they consistently do it for emotional manipulation "ole yeller" moments. they will make fan favorite characters like krieg, maya, roland, scooter, and then cap them in the head and replace them with ava, and then the next game they'll put ava in a corner anyway and instead place border(lmao)line walking unity assets. they just set up retarded moments for roland etc to have a "im 2 days from retirement, i love you lilith" then THIS IS AMERICA. characters they do keep wind up being bloated and sidelined, because every game for some reason requiring 4 unique characters means you might get a 5 minute gunzerker cameo in the future. maybe. so characters become more and more underused, your favorites are now dead, and they choose to keep some of the most boring ass characters even if they have to be forced to be made as such. on top of dumb fucks irl like pitchford fucking with stuff like claptraps original actor, david eddings, so the most prominent feature of every single title up to tps (love or hate him) is no longer the same either.
they don't even use characters deaths in interesting ways, like for example, krieg. im no real writer but in 30 seconds of knowing about maya's death you could come up with an interesting scenario where "maya dies=krieg loves maya=krieg is an incredibly unstable abomination=krieg completely loses control and mutates to a superior form=large boss battle/superboss using his gameplay mechanics where you have to put him down yourself etc". like if they had precise, one time moments they could be executed well, but it's just like every damn game has them now, scooters even happening in the damn tell tale spin off games then popping up in mainline like "yep scooters dead now". and its not like they even follow their own dumb rules, they obviously have favorites, like tiny tina is most likely never going to get shot in the head. so they kill off a myriad of interesting characters and villains, so now you have twitch streamers that kill maya and literally who main characters. additionally, some characters are really treated with kids gloves like ellie. just a deathfat that literally waddles everywhere and has to be made a badass that somehow survives and has consistent "im not fat im healthy and badass bish", out of all the reddit humor or features, the deathfat without any dark humor or health issues to me is one of the most annoying tbh, and is also a very big wasted opportunity where there's nothing stopping them from having her lose a shit ton of weight as character development etc. like scooter and moxxie talk about how much they love her but theyre both notably skinny, so must have just ate normal and gave her like 30k calories a day and never forced her to exercise with them at all and she never had any problems being most likely 5-600 pounds living in multiple deserts. writing this im getting more pissed actually, fucking awful character
humor/redditification wise, i always thought 1 was handled better, but i fairly recently replayed 1-tps and 1 was already going straight into it by the dlc. the zombie dlc ought as well have just been 2. gameplay and art wise though, 1 is much more like cod world at war where they really pushed brutality, the elements being very detailed and dark, people melting being much more detailed, literal darker areas and colors. gunplay was much more footsy? like using fighting game terms, characters all mostly had reasonable movement, guns felt like they really hit and looked more grounded. it's reputation aside i personally also really liked moxxies arena as an endgame with multiple areas and random modifiers, good for semi-pretty challenging drop in and play stuff on endgame characters. no easy replay sucked. every game post 1 was much more spectacle and cocaine, every character had multiple movement modifiers, insane jumping, less mad max environments more sharkboy and lavagirl tier cocaine shit. more coke across the board really. personally i thought they were all ok gameplay wise 1-tps, i have low standards but i never really felt like "this is fucking shit in comparison", but felt sidegrades etc definitely. it's been completely dead to me post ava and no krieg (pbuh) but fucking trash non binary robots or whatever the fuck replacing everything but tina being lolrandom and lilith turning into a whiny bitch that then rapidly gets moments where she can be a living deus ex machina
