This reminds me how on the Japanese internet videos used to have scrolling comments, with people being able to make statements during specific parts of the video. However, what happened is that every popular video would eventually become a cluttered mess, as seen here.

Yeah, don't worry, the internet has found ways in making shit unwatchable for as long as it has existed. Surprise surprise... people generally don't like watching videos that look like burnt oatmeal, so content creators frequently just take the risk of having their content be stolen, over sacrificing watchability. It's just in this case people within the thread DON'T want anybody outside the thread to take what they've recorded, inconvenience is kind of the whole point. And besides, all that's gonna do is encourage youtubers to record footage themselves (or ask their sucker fans to do it, in exchange for a shoutout within the video), so I don't see nigger watermark recordings becoming the new norm. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Oh yeah, that's true... all of that has gotten relegated to it's own small, separate tab, unless the streamer themselves goes out of their way to integrate scroll comments within the video. I am going to miss stuff like "Hi youtube" comments over footage of streamer having a meltdown, these moments where you can pinpoint the second the viewers realize "oh yeah, this is gon get clipped".

Yeah, also even when live chat has a thing int he video it's now always the same downways abrupt clicky scroll of the live chat tab as well on the side of the video feed instead of scrolling across the screen at RNG points like the pre-youtube livestreams. If I ever become tech savvy in any capacity again enough to set that kinda thing up and I start livestreaming stuff I'm 100% gonna put it on the smooth scrolling sideways type of shit, it's just funnier that way.

EDIT: Edited my post because youtube didn't support livestreams till after the scrolling sideways chat thing died out IIRC.
