English spelling should be consistent, like Italian or Spanish.

Instead, English pronunciation works sort of like "Calvinball".
English got screwed over by being a composite language(Germanic in origin, influenced by French, a romance language) that was part way through a pronunciation shift when the printing press was invented and standardized spellings.

Welsh is dumb and makes no sense. Modern English is a superior language. However, this is a separate discussion.

Welsh is a perfectly understandable brythonic language that has to cope with being written down in latin letters, which cannot properly depict its sounds without being mangled to hell and back. It's bad enough that English uses them; they're really only suited to south european romance languages. ᚱᛖᛏᚢᚱᚾ᛫ᛏᚩ᛫ᚦᛖ᛫ᚠᚢᚦᚪᚱᚳ!

I was watching that "teen Q" episode of TNG recently. It bugs me that Data says "The core is currently generating 12.75 billion Gigawatts per..." I get that writers need to make things understandable to non-autistic people but I think Data, of all characters, would say "12.75 Exawatts".

Frankly, with some of the ridiculous technobabble, I'm surprised that the actors could get through scenes as well as they did.

>12.75 exawatts
Well, that's... a lot. But, then again, not really since most of that power is needed to bust open subspace enough to pass through.
If it only takes 1.21 gigawats to tear a hole through the space-time continuum, you could probably make the entire space-time continuum your bitch with that much power.

So my sys admin let's me use his plex server. I noticed he uploaded Section 31 recently. Since I have a long weekend because of the holiday I thought I might hate watch it for shits and maybe giggles. I decided to read the wiki for the movie and the plot. The plot sounded so dumb I can't even bring myself to hate watch it...for free. Here's the link if anyone wants to read it.
Instead I'm going to rewatch parts of Nemesis.

Did he upload Lower Decks? I'm half in a mood to give it a shot.

Lower Decks clicked with me season two onwards. I couldn't stand Mariner or the crew dynamic in those first episodes.
Some characters like Rutherford just never get any better unfortunately.

Vulcans are all right
Now I want to read more Star Trek stories about grunts shooting the shit rather than cushy Starfleet captains resolving genocide between sips of Earl Grey (hot) on their interstellar cruise ships.
Too bad there isn't really a dedicated Starfleet Marine Corps. MACO was too based.

/edit:
since the real stuff is shit these days, maybe there's some joy to be had in looking at other Stellar Travels type shows from our hyu-mon Earth
Space Patrol / Space Patrol Orion
West German Space - The West German Final Frontier! These are the voyages of the flying saucer Orion!
Oh yeah that's good shit. Due to budget limitations and Europoors being Europoors, the show was filmed in B&W despite color TV already becoming a thing. Also, sharp eyes can notice a lot of funky props, like cloth irons and faucets used for starship controls.
It was also somewhat more militaristic than Star Trek, which led to it being criticised for that in Germany back then.
If you wanna get into the ultimate German scifi experience, check out Perry Rhodan. The longest running and most expansive scifi universe nobody has heard of. It's been published continuously as serialised novellas since 1961, with zero retcons, reboots, or any of that nonsense. Once the main character became basically a god, he stayed that way. As you can imagine, the lore has accumulated some bonkers shit over time, and due to the sheer amount of released material it's practically impossible to catch up on. The original series has somewhere north of 3300 novels released and has the equivalent length of 120 War & Peaces. Despite it being the longest running continuously told story in history, not many adaptations to other media have been done. There have been audio books and plays, and the very occasional video game and a single movie.
Which was a low budget Italian shitflick and everyone hates it.
There's also Perry Rhodan NEO, a new series of novellas that kinda restarts the series for new readers, because as mentioned earlier, it's practically impossible to get into it now. I know I ain't reading something the length of 560 Harry Potter novels.

Recently started watching Enterprise after watching the O.S. and somewhat of Voyager (Janeway got really old really fast). I know Star Trek would never do this because it would go directly against the creator's intent, but it was a huge mistake to look at religion as something to be done away with when hyperdrive is invented or whatever.
