Saints Row thread

I can never quite say SR3 sucks mainly because unlike SR2, which I admit wholeheartedly I like a lot more, I didn't have to worry about the game crashing as much. Even Gentleman of the Row can't fix that, and I found it's still more unstable than New Vegas, which is saying a lot. I also do admit the controls and gameplay in SR3 is fun; a bit of a guilty pleasure so to speak.

I will however state that the story is horribly paced, and that is one of the reasons I never got around to beating it, which is telling. I also fucking hate Professor Genki as a whole, and preferred probably every other activity to that one.

Agents of Mayhem have some of the worst characters i have seen in a game. The game was released in 2017, and already had all the woke DEI feminist garbage in it. When you look back its clear as day what killed the Saints Row series. The company had been invaded by woke retards.

Literal proto-woke you numbnuts, 3 years later cuckmann sharted the last of cucks 2.
their sin was not making it coop and axing dlc's which were supposed to contain other map locations, they had zero fucking faith in it because it's supposed to be a continuation from out of hell, which was hated too.
i've read on a youtube comment in one of flippy's videos i think that volition was tired of making saints row past 4 and they just wanted it to end, well, would you look at that...
i hope every single dev in that shitheap of a studio was blacklisted in the industry, being merged to cuckbox software was a good punishment but these faggots need to be deemed perdita, a fucking pustule of a human being that should learn how to clean toilets and even then it's not enough of a punishment, how the fuck do you work on a industry you hate your customers? beyond retarded.

During my yearly playthrough of 1&2 I noticed something within the character creator of 2, something that is pretty explicitly a “slider” for the gender of the character. I wonder how many of the modern day woke grifters would take this, is this pretty based game now woke because of that slider? I’ve seen tards claim wokeness for much, much less.

Yeah, but Saint's Row characters have more bust and ass than any modern game...
Except the gay 2022 reboot.

It's super weird that the reboot even exists. Because Saint's Row 4 ends with aliens destroying the planet and the Saints using an alien time machine to go back in time.

That's a perfect setup to remaster or remake the first game and they didn't do it.

Although I think I read somewhere Soy's Row reboot began life as a Saint's Row 2 remake before going horribly wrong.

Oh my lord If I knew that there was a thread for this I would have posted here earlier. In terms of games, the second one was what got me into this series, and the reboot felt like they took what made the Saints Row series special and fucked it up. Replacing the saints with literal whos and removing the iconic old characters like Shaundi and Johnny. Keith David was what carried half of the Black Cast (BJK wasn't played by him, but his voice actor was still great.) despite this, I wonder why they went that route instead. Probably because the final one Gat out of Hell wouldn't make sense.

In a way, I felt like Playa 2022 wouldn't be as likable as Playa from our time. Playa had a rough start he was essentially beaten in a ally, brought to Saints Row by Julius, ran up the ranks and saw a friend die, die himself because a informant and Julius tried to ala ackbar him, wake up in the hospital of a prison and break out, and even more crazy shit ensues, 2022 Playa just decided to start his own gang without any hardships. Is there a Virgin/Chad meme of the two?

I'd consider Saints Row to be "woke" before "woke" was a thing. SR2 onward, you could be a male or female gangbanger. Each gang had both sexes as members. You had Johnny Gat, a bad ass Asian dating a Black, female rapper. I think the first Saints Row had some NPCs in walkers.

I miss old Saints Row. After GTA 4 decided we couldnt have fun in GTA anymore, it did a good job scratching that chaotic open world power fantasy itch. I remember SR2 even made a trailer making fun of GTA 4 being a stuffy, up its own ass game while SR2 let you blow shit up, do drugs and cause a ruckus with characters that didnt make you want to punch your balls to distract from the boredom. A better time.

Probably's been beought up before but i love the nuance 2 had for some of the main antagonists. Dane Vogel is extremely entertaining, the Brotherhood is probably my favorite rival gang in the series, and the Ronin storyline is Johnny Gat at his best, but it takes a bit of a stumble once you kill Shogo and Junichi. That funeral mission couldve been a great way to cap that particular storyline.

The fun from GTA (IV) for me was going through the story. After that, there isn't much to do that I would consider "fun." At least with Saints Row, there are a variety of activities for you to do around the open world if you want a break from the campaign. I don't like ALL of them, but I have the option at least.

They are different levels of "fun," depending on how I fell. Although, I haven't played Saints Row in a while.

Recently I've finally pushed myself to finish Saints Row 1 for the first time. Thanks to the Xenia Mousehook fork, Special K and Lossless Scaling it played like a PC port. The fuckery I pull off is interesting, as I use Special K to force Xenia to size the window in 720p so that Lossless Scaling does the final image upscaling as well as frame generation to fill in the gaps from the 60fps patch.

Now, before I try and 100% all the activities, I first want to buy every piece of clothing there is. I only have Impressions and On Thin Ice left. As for the money, I've been abusing the Rim Jobs in Stoughton to repeatedly blow up a Titan truck. It's right next to a bunch of white exploding barrels with a parking lot far from the main street, so even if you manage to get a one star wanted level cops won't show up around there.

I've been thinking about doing a fresh install, as well as playthrough of Saints Row 2 on PC, this time with Overhauled Stilwater instead of GotR. Have a more vanilla experience and all.

Now, before I try and 100% all the activities,
Shit, good luck with the Drug Trafficking Levels 6-8, holy fucking shit it took me so long to get those and that was with a whole lot of fuckery, including: running on foot to Forgive and Forget, switching vehicles after every stop [and using the special Titan you unlock from Hijacking] and already having the Hitman weapons unlocked. Glad I did it though, still holding off until I get some free time to 100% SR2.

I did write a guide some pages back on the activities: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/saints-row-thread.6458/post-19798656

Like I said, game becomes piss easy once you can aim with a mouse. Last Carnales mission failed once due to not dealing enough damage to the plane, aced at the second try with pretty much no damage to the car. I didn't do the second one cuz I'm very lazy with doing activities in general.

Anyways, I've reinstalled SR2 yesterday. 4GB patch, DXVK, Juiced Patch, Stilwater Overhaul. So far it's been running very smooth and I'm yet to encounter my first crash. It also reminded me how PC games are mean to look and play, unlike an upscaled emulator. If the community manages to port the DLC's as well we might get the PC patch one way or another.

Lossless Scaling has been so enjoyable when emulating old games for me. It looks a bit jank but helps in those early PS360 games where the devs just didn't care about framerate. When you go back to older stuff like PS1 though the framerate creating effects look worse.

If headshots are in any single player open world game this is a thing. Feels like the games are balanced around you being on a controller, the game does not expect my TF2 skills. My favorite was in GTA4 where using the mouse would give you no recoil because of a glitch

Took me about 4 hours of constant gameplay to get a random crash. Given that it's the Saints Row 2 PC port it's a pretty damn good result.

Did you 100% the campaign or 100% all achievements, including online multiplayer?
Just the campaign and all tags/CDs and side activities, as far as I know it's nigh impossible to find an online lobby with people in it at this point, though there may be a way to 'boost' said achievements with other people if you can get them onboard. IIRC Saints Row's multiplayer was peer to peer, so there weren't any servers to worry about that inevitably get spun down five years after launch. I actually never got the chance to play it online but I heard good things about it.
