Do we know anything about the hows, the whys and the wherefores of this? I'd always assumed that Schneider had taken the case on a contingency fee basis, and while he gave it his best shot, it was pretty clear that defamation law wasn't really his area of expertise. We had to assume that he'd taken on the case for personal reasons -- ie, legal grudge match.
But he must have invested some time and energy in the case getting it this far. Does he get paid for that? Has Hardin also taken the case on a contingency fee basis? Will Hardin/Schneider split any proceeds should they prevail?
Also, I'm hugely interested in what all this means for discovery. Is Hardin going to be digging around in Rekieta's personal business? Lets hope. I foresee a future in which the milk flows abundantly free.
