People like Elon do make me wonder if there is an IQ fall off at the very top of society. Like I understand IQ correlates with wealth, but it's also clear Elon is not in the second or third SD for IQ. At best, he's 110. Like, in that interview, he responded so slow. I don't think he can adequately formulate thoughts that you might expect from a 120 or 130 person.

The reason only teenagers and braindead libertarians idolize Elon is because they're the only people uninformed/dumb enough to think that a company doing something has anything to do with the person at the top. Anyone who is smart enough to have worked somewhere and managed to ascend to a higher level of any competent organization knows that all the real, necessary work happens two to three levels below the top of the command chain and at scattered points below that. Every corporate structure has an oil slick of midwit sleazebags floating on top who get into their position through nepotism, brownosing, and backstabbing. Every one of them resents actual talent and intelligence and will ruthlessly kneecap anyone smarter than them who even gets close to the top of the pyramid. What they actually do is come up with harebrained schemes and ultimatums that at best annoy and distract the productive people below them (at worst they can cripple the company's operations if pursued relentlessly).

Here's the thing. The founder of Tesla was someone to be admired, as he was the originator of the technology that has made the company so successful. In fact, the founders of many successful companies are often admirable people, at least as their ingenuity is concerned. Steve Wozniak of Apple also comes to mind. But then what happens is that as the business grows, the schemers and backstabbers eventually take over, and then they present themselves as the geniuses behind the greatness of the company. It is one of the injustices of group dynamics, that the showman who has the nerve to take all the credit for himself often wins everyone's praise, while the actual inventors and creators, who are rarely so shameless, they are cast aside and largely forgotten.

I've heard rumors of Silicon valley companies having a blacklist for people who show talent and initiative, and it wouldn't surprise me if tis was the case. They got to the top by being at the right place at the right time with the right friends, and have done everything in their power to kill anything that might unseat them from their position.

While I agree this was the main goal, I actually think Elon was arrogant/delusional enough to believe he could basically fix the economy in a few weeks by doing the most bare bone and basic forms of auditing.

Elon is basically like Mr. Burns in that early Simpsons episode where he makes Smithers go on vacation and ends up having to take care of himself. He thinks he can do it, but only because he has no idea what something as small as making breakfast entails, and then when he does it, he thinks it's this huge accomplishment.

I think Elon was basically expecting for DOGE to login into everyone's computer, find a folder called "Fraud spending" and delete it to save the economy. Just like he thought he could buy Twitter and get rid of all those unnecessary engineers and other staff members, then delete the "bot account" folder to save the internet.

I think Trump getting tired of basically having a leash kid he had to wrangle was part of it, and the other was he probably got yelled at by the Tesla board and they wanted him out if he kept trying to be the shadow president tying his brands to politics that 50% of the country disagrees with.

There are various ways in which investors try to analyze the expected value of a stock. They take things in account such as assets, revenue, profit, patents, etc. Tesla was always performing above those analyses. It gets propped up by Elon fanboys. In this case they don't see Elon coming back as him scurrying back after getting kicked out, but as the prodigy coming back to set things right.
And hey, maybe he did set up something in government that lets him get a bunch a of subsidies or preferential treatment.

I'm sure that Elon thought that he was going to swoop in with GrokAI, DOGE, and his coterie of barely-out-of-puberty geek squad, and Save America (tm). The problem is that while there were ACTUAL smart people behind him at Tesla and PayPal, there are no such people in the US Government. So when Elmo fucked up, there was no one to clean up his messes, and the moronic Afrikaaner thought that throwing around his money was the best solution.

When you have to bribe people with $1 million paychecks and still lose by a large margin, that's a sign that NO ONE LIKES YOU.

It's like they think he's Steve Jobs, who actually was kicked out and brought back, but Jobs actually had something (OS X and the iMac) that revived a dying brand.
