video on which fertility rate is cratering. Especially after 13:35 he discusses a lot of proposed causes. What I found most interesting is that I assumed it was a complex problem, but for a lot of the arguments you can provide a counter-example.

turkey has a lower birthrate than UK, mexico lower than US
>high cost of education
between countries that subsidize education and countries that force you to take on massive college debt you don't see the expected difference.

In tamil nadu only 29% of the women work outside the home, but their fertility is down to 1.4
>women are studying which makes them less interested in love
coupling rates are lower for lower educated people than highly educated people, and coupling is the most important determinant for ferility
>women don't want to marry down
in the middle east and north africa women do not get as much education and still birthrate is down
>women make money for themselves, dont need a man anymore
south korea has the largest gender pay gap but women still don't couple
>cost of living/cost of young child
middle east and north africa you still have declining fertility rates while the cost of making babies isn't high there. Instead low coupling is driving down fertility. On surveys in the west why people don't make babies it does get named, but it isn't in the top named reasons.

drop in relationships is highest in the poorer strata

russia, hungary and china are offering money for young mothers, and that doesn't do a lot since young women simply don't have a husband or boyfriend they're ready to settle with.

Most people seem more interested in playing videogames than hunting for a partner.
