UK YouGov: Should you be allowed to marry your cousin? - Yes: White 8%, Black 6%, Pakistani/Bangladeshi 39%

Should you be able to marry your cousin?
Three quarters of Britons say no

The health implications of marriage between first cousins are coming under increased scrutiny in the UK and across Europe, with babies born to such couples having a higher likelihood of suffering from genetic disorders.

In Britain – and indeed across much of the world – it is legal to marry one of your first cousins (that is, a child of one of your parent’s siblings). Parliament is currently scrutinising proposed legislation by Tory MP Richard Holden to ban first cousin marriages, with the bill’s second reading expected in July. New YouGov research shows that three quarters of Britons (77%) say first cousin marriage should not be legal, with only 9% thinking the law should remain as it is. Prohibiting first cousin marriage is popular across the main parties, with 76-77% of Labour, Lib Dem and Tory voters opposed to the practice, as well as 82% of Reform UK voters.

Cousin marriage is more common among some South Asian minority communities in the UK, with a recent Born in Bradford study finding that almost half (46%) of mothers from the Pakistani community in three inner-city Bradford wards were married to a first or second cousin. This is borne out by the results, with a poll of ethnic minority Britons finding that 39% of British Pakistanis and Bangladeshis say cousin marriage should be legal – although 47% of this group still say the practice should be prohibited.

By contrast, Black and Indian Britons are about as (un)likely to support cousin marriage as White Britons (6-9%).

Multiple generations of first cousin inbreeding leaves them effectively even more inbred. If it’s within the same family you can end up with complete pedigree collapse but even within a community the size of the Pakistani/bangladeshi ones in Bradford and similar places you get significant problems. They also have a real ‘allah’s will’ fatalistic approach so they’ll have seven kids all with catastrophic issues. Of course they all need interpreters and lifelong care and taxis everywhere and nobody in the family works. The cost must be staggering. In places like Bradford I’m told by colleagues that over two thirds of the case load is this kind of inbreeding and the defects are really severe.
We need to ban first cousin marriage, (and halal slaughter and circumcision, and see where that goes )

Reminder that several NHS trusts and local councils are collapsing because of the sheer cost of keeping the Pakistani's inbred vegetable children alive, and they'll still continue to shit out more vegetables because it's "Allah's will".
The 8% of "White Britons" are actually Albanians, to clear that up.

I wonder if the negros have their version of the Albanians?
Hey now, it could also be pikeys, those fuckers have a genepool so shallow that it's more of a puddle.

One one hand: Ewww no!
On the other hand: Shouldn't this technically be legal as well if we're going by the liberal/libertarian stance towards gay marriage? Like consenting adults and all that, and you can argue that the inbred babies stuff is only a risk as long as you don't use protection (like how gay sex has a lower chance of STDs if you use condoms).

Don't get me wrong, I'm indifferent towards gay marriage, and I'm not defending this shit and think the people advocating for this are doing it for the wrong reasons. Just pondering over the answer to the conundrum of legislating based on personal disgust but still keeping gay stuff legal.

I guess also shutting down immigration could help but the Tories did nothing for about a decade in charge and Labor won't do anything.

This is one way the immigrants are helping the British remember their roots. Gotta keep that fortune in the family. Those two cultures are actually compatible in this regard. Just because the white Brits are against this now doesn't mean that they weren't all for it about two hundred years ago.

In some US states it's legal to marry your second and third cousin. The genetics are separated enough at that point it's considered fine. Most people don't get married anymore anyway and at the most they just live together Boomers called it shacking up and I have heard younger people call it ghetto marriage. There really isn't anything stopping anyone from living with their cousin and I guess fucking them. Just don't make any fucked up kids. Who would know unless they really knew you and your family. If you are having such a hard time finding someone just keep it to yourself. You don't really have to tell anyone your boyfriend or girlfriend is your cousin. Just keep it cool around your family I guess.

Like I said, who is going to stop them? There are other more serious problems in society than two really lonely family members living together. I imagine you would have to be pretty lonely and desperate.

Now for the dune coons and African niggers their IQs are that low because they engage in inbreeding with much closer relatives. Sister and brothers specifically.

If you get divorced at least she is still your cousin right? LOL
