TNA's struggling to stay afloat and I don't think they're going to be around long regardless of who is pillaging them for spare parts. It really feels like they're subsisting off of the goodwill of whichever bigger org is feeling charitable, like Paul Heyman ECW.

I think the only thing really keeping them alive at the moment is their TV deal with Sportsnet in Canada and all the tax breaks/grants/etc that come from being CanCon (I think....are they still producing out of Ottawa?)

TNA is owned by Anthem, a very big Canadian media company's sports arm. They aren't "struggling to stay afloat", they are a tax write-off.

Anthem bought AXS just to ensure TNA had a TV home in the US. Their pockets are basically bottomless, and they are fine with TNA running below break-even financially. Since their events are all in Ontario, they get tax credits and funding from federal and provincial CanCon programs as well as education ministry bucks due to partnering with media programs in colleges and universities to use student labour in their TV and event production.

TNA will keep existing as long as it is a working tax dodge for Anthem.

Also, people really need to quit saying TNA needs a new US TV deal. (See it a lot in other places online!) Their parent company owns the network and nobody else wanted them, so they aren't going anywhere.

'Very big' is a bit misleading. Bell is very big. Rogers is very big. Comparatively, Anthem's portfolio is respectable, but they're on par with something like Corus.

I'm not sure where you're getting the 'sports arm' shit from, as they don't have a parent company. Are you going to bring up Sygnus?

This is sort of what I meant when I say they struggle. An org that's in the red that is being propped up by tax gibs isn't one that is strong and healthy.

I'm not trying to knock TNA, just recognizing that their situation isn't rosy and contingent on a multitude of factors.

Again, the biggest thing for them that would be keeping them solvent is the Sportsnet TV deal.

Anthem is held by the Asper family, and is part of the overall investment pool of Post Media. The papers and other holdings weren't sold off to Rogers when they sold Global. The financial arrangement of the Asper empire is pretty wild.

Postmedia, you mean. Which bought out Canwest, which was owned by the Asper family and fell into bankruptcy and were bought out by Shaw (who are now owned by Rogers -- aren't Canadian telecommunications duopolies fun?)

I think the Janel Grant case is the only legal issue Vince has right now, and it's only a civil lawsuit. He's already out of WWE/TKO with no chance of ever coming back or getting back into the wrestling business at all so I'm not sure how much more "done" he could possibly be. At worst he's forced to pay a very large amount of money to her.

All the Asper holdings are owned by an investment fund, as liability shielding/creative accounting enabling.
