Just in time for National Panda Day, Pornhub has launched a genius marketing stunt fundraising campaign intended to help prevent giant pandas from becoming endangered due to "a low birthrate caused by its reluctance to breed," the company announced.


The adult entertainment site is encouraging people to upload videos of themselves fornicating while dressed or painted as pandas. The idea is that scientists and zookeepers will then show these videos to real life pandas to help get them in the mood. We are not making this up.

"Those who are interested simply need to slip into a panda costume, or use black-and-white body paint, and get it on…panda style," the site said in a news release. "Fans are encouraged to upload their videos to Pornhub's new 'Panda Style' category with the intention that scientists can use it as a resource for their panda breeding efforts."

Pornhub said scientists have already employed this tactic, but there's currently a shortage of panda porn out there and most of the existing stuff is poor quality, so it's stepping in to help. As part of the campaign, the porn site's philanthropic arm Pornhub Cares will donate $100 for every video added to the Panda Style category now through April 16, plus 1 cent every time one of the videos is viewed. Donations will go to nonprofit organizations working to ensure the preservation and propagation of the endangered giant panda, including the World Wildlife Fund.

"Considering wood is a main staple of a panda's diet, it's especially surprising that they only mate a few times per year, if at all," Pornhub VP Corey Price said in a statement. "Thus, in celebration of National Panda Day, we wanted to do our part and help grow the dwindling panda population. Through this initiative we hope to not only generate quality content scientists and zookeepers can use to show pandas, but also raise adequate funds for a nonprofit organization to ensure the livelihood of the world's giant panda population."
