did someone get confused? i wonder if the cartoon mascot suit fanbase and the furry fanbase have any intersection and whether people from the former who aren't aware of the latter ever show up in furry cons looking around like "i... think? these are my people? but something is just a little bit... off..."

The administrative roles that often staff committees for low level decisions like this tend to attract activist types -- think the Dwight Schrute "smallest power I've ever seen go to anyone's head" scenario. Associate adjunct professors at local colleges, assistant librarians, and random museum admins...the promise of a steady paycheck, no accountability, and a federal benefits package to fund their fetish and spread their gay politics.

I'm partial to this actually being used, considering the kind of people who would go to a ABDL Furry convention as the types that get off on negative attention. (NO I AM NOT SAYING IT IS ACCEPTABLE BY ANY METRIC)
Something like this would get quickly shut down by the museum (who 100% are going to make sure you aren't fucking around in their exhibits), and is is completely open view so they can't exactly say its for actual children either. It is far more likely the transexual filming the video just set it up in a corner before staff could notice, filmed a quick video, and uploaded it for attention. It would not be hard to pull off considering it looks like the table was already there, and the room itself has only one entrance. On the other hand, it is also completely in character for these types of so called people to actually pull a stunt like this for the IRL negative attention as well.

This was their first year of making it 3 days instead of 1. They have no mention of it being ABDL themed unlike the 2 others, most likely because it's inside of an aircraft carrier that serves as a museum.

Did they just tell the museum that it would just be a three day furry party while not informing of what the goers were actually into? A quick glace at their website doesn't mention it at all. I am curious as to how they managed to get approved by a museum, considering the history these kind of people have with damaging property.

i DO want to see the purely non furry cartoon mascot fanbase, i'm sure there's intersection, but i'm also positive there's a highly autistic group of people who are excuslively *just* into mascot suits and passionately categorize them by things like manufacturer and what branding they represent and what year the brazillian electronics company that used this specific suit went out of business

They listed it on their official convention map as "accessibility changing space" and also to note the museum does have changing tables already in their bathrooms... Just not for adults.
