So there's finally been enough pages posted of Megan Rose Gedris (aka Rosalarian)'s new webcomic Magical Women. I last made a post about it here, but figured I would wait until public access had opened up. (I won't be doing a weekly update - if there's interest in me posting, I'll probably do roundups and summaries instead for easier reading.)
I think I unironically love this comic because it's a perfect unintentional allegory for the Western Left over the past 2 decades. You had victory in the bag, but you decided to hard pivot, couldn't balance real life (college) with ideals (stopping King Locust), and now the chuds are running the show while you're broke, jobless, and single.
I also cannot believe a woman who has been drawing for as long as Meg here can render a face that horrifically. I get faces are hard but holy shit crack open a Loomis book or something.
I have developed a hatred for the Out Of Placers after some autist started spamming the comics on 4chan “as a joke”. The comic is a rambling nonsensical soap-opera wander through a magical kingdom partially populated by ‘yinglets’, annoying three foot tall rat/goblin/kobold things with one triangular frontal tooth and a level of intelligence that apparently varies wildly from completely retarded to superhuman.
The art is amateurish, the stories incomprehensible, the character designs yiff-coded.
I hate it.
I don’t go on /co/, I kept seeing them on /pol/ humor threads. I assumed it was a fucktard just shitting up /pol/ specifically, good to know that wasn’t the case.
Does anyone remember Your Webcomic is Bad ? It was made by a goon named Fuego Fish but I don't remember him trooning out or worse. Anyone else has any memories of this relic?
Also, I just binged the latest couple years of Sinfest and let me just say that in the year of our lord 2025 Ishida won and Shittywebcomics lost. What a time to be alive.

Kind of, but I more remember the Shitty Webcomics tumblr pissing off a lot of people and getting activity until they were able to get it banned. Which is a shame I remember one time Linkara responded to a comment about one of David Willis' rape comics with something that was basically "It's not rape if she enjoys it" but not in those words, so they photoshopped Lewis doing the Mechakara grin with those words. It was funny at the time, now it's gone.

It was funny until flinched. They sold themselves as the cool, bad boys who gave no fucks posting boomer RINO takes about US politics and nazi, furry porn.
When they shat on Kate Leth it was funny because these nobodies got under her skin and would not back down. Aaron, the guy from Dresden Kodak was also ass blasted because they kept shitting on him for being a lazy hack. Around 2015-ish they really crawled up their own asses, assumed they were far more important than they were and decided to make a podcast where it turns out they were basement dwellers with mommy issues. It seems that the only cool one of the three that operated the tumblr was a cab driver from NY that got fed up from the drama from literal basement dwellers.
If this was 2025 they would be drawn as a chudjak with a MIGA hat.

Yes! Your Webcomic Is Bad was my introduction to lolcow culture - or, at least, to making fun of people online. It really boggled my mind how utterly thin skinned so many of the creators were, and my attempts to figure out how they could be so bad at avoiding spazzing out at him was what drew me in.
I looked at it again relatively recently, and while a lot of the criticisms still seemed pretty apt (and, in the case of the Dresden Kodak guy, even moreso now than then), a lot of the humor was just that 200s era "I swear a lot and am excessively angry so it's funny!" stuff that has really not aged well.
That really was the style at the time. Looking back at it, it felt like the Gen X'ers "Whatever, everything is shit" was the default mode for all these people.
Another realic of the time was the vidya webcomic, specifically the 2 guys sitting on a couch style (which was Clerks but with videogames). Wasn't it also John Solomon who made the shiitiest possible, mspaint comic copying CTRL+ALT+DEL to prove a point? I can't even remember the name. 2 gamers on a couch died with online play, I guess, the whole culture around local multiplayer.
And on this topic here's a comic that I 'm so sad was killed by the Escapist: Erin Dies Alone
Take the initial premise of Critical Miss, (haha, video game reviewing site crazy hijinks) take the plot point where the main character Erin suffers brain damage and starts seeing video game characters and talks to them (more crazy hijinks) and instead make it a depressing story of a schitzophrenic woman on disability trying to make it through the day (with videogames).
The long and short if it is that the titual character, Erin, instead of being the charismatic, manic pixie, dream girl is a brain damaged, socially inept pill popper shut in that talks to a Sonic the Hedgehog mascot. It had some humor but you knew that her life was 2 steps away from fully collapsing.
The panda may or many not live inside her head and every volume is them going inside a game world and making jokes about it (typical vidya humor). They covered 2 volumes with Halo and and a JRPG before the comic was killed by The Escapist.
To summarize, imagine Wilfred but with more videogames.

Cartoonist Alex Graham (not of Fred Basset fame, but creator of the comic Dog Biscuits) has managed to wet the diapers of both traditional comickers and webcomickers alike because she had the audacity to name the elephant in the room: a lot of comics these days suck tremendous amounts of ass. Her real mistake, however, was indicating that white neoliberal guilt may be a source for this slow decline in quality - she should have been aware her peers would never take such a stance without bringing out the claws.
As a twist, there are also now rumors that Graham was taking a potshots at either Lee Lai, an Asian troon who was a finalist for an award for his work on Stone Fruit, or Jamila Rowser, who did beat Graham out for her work on Wash Day Diaries. Even though there is no evidence to support these theories whatsoever, that's never stopped anyone before.
And because everyone involved in comics as a medium is both retarded and insane, Graham went on to simply double down even harder, especially because she questioned the vitriol directed towards her instead of towards "violent rapists." So expect more seething!

Funny how nobody mentioned Ranfren's Puppychan-esque art regression in this thread. The art style was never a stellar one, but the old style it had still had more charm and polish to it than the literal MS Paint scribbles the creator shits out nowadays.

I’ve been going back and forth on sharing those other bird comics on here, even if there’s some bits that could be fun to laugh at (like spoilers the raven getting his anarchist buddies to destroy the office and try to beat up cat boss.). But I’ve seen some parts of larkness’s new ongoing comic. Not too sure what it’s about, only that the protagonist is super anal about proper tea. Something about a factory bastardizing his product I guess.
More polite than usual? I’d hate to see him on a bad day.

Sorry for the double post but I just read all of the tea comic that’s out so far. And it’s lame as hell. There are some bits that could’ve been intriguing, but I was getting tired of that whiny little knife-eared…whatever slur there is for a Brazilian whining about tea.
Basically we follow this fellow, Martín, and a tea sapling that he just can’t get to grow. So he ventures down from his mountain for the first time in 17 years to try and find a plant doctor. Riveting stuff, I know.
Anyways, the townspeople (barring Taia, the “weird” innkeeper) think he’s a weirdo for talking to plants, isolating himself on a mountain of bad omen, and talking about dreams. Apparently despite his tea granting dreams, nobody in town has had them for ages. And apparently nobody actually knows that tea comes from trees, much like urbanites who think that meat just comes from the store.
Why? Because of this motherfucker and his factory.
So he sells the tea to pig lady, who resells it to evil capitalist dude, and I guess the refinery process of the factory takes away everything that makes the natural tea awesome, including giving you a dreamless sleep every time. I don’t know how true to life this is, I’ve only had some fandom inspired teas that may or may not be very healthy.
He does eventually find a tea researcher, not doctor, in the form of a black elf with vitiligo, there’s a bunch of autistic spergery about tea and how the sapling is special and that’s it for now. Is it bad? I dunno, but it sure is boring.
And on that note, I’ve decided that I will go ahead and share more of the bird comics, even if just for the falling action and ending. Because I was mistaken, cat boss does get the shit beaten out of him with baseball bats. And to my dismay, we never truly learn what kind of talking animal rules are at play in this setting (Warrior Cats? Barnyard? That one episode of Arthur with a frog CEO in a tree office building? Sure, let’s go with that).

Yeah that's where my head went, but I don't remember Sonic or Kingdom Hearts being in it. Then again I stopped reading ages ago when I realized how many up skirt shots there were on little girls.
I'm actually surprised to see Snafu is still online, though Dave has taken down his own comics from it. I remember a ninja calling people retards and I think Snafu had jokes about abortion being bad because it gives women a choice.
