While that may appeal to people who like to overthink things, most people's eyes glaze over and they shut down when someone starts utterly nerding out and sperging like that.

Geno can be said to be complicit in that he "distributed" the photograph to her (showed it to her) which could technically make Geno as guilty as Aaron if Geno lived in Minnesota. You gotta remember that at the time that was written, a lot less was known about addiction, and about the brain in general. It's also a different style of writing than you'd usually see today. If you look into the history of the group, and other groups that were trying to help people achieve sobriety, you'll also see that that's there to differentiate them from the Oxford group, who went with the idea that it was something that could be overcome.

It's more about getting people to accept that if they don't have power over alcohol, and can't stop once they start, then the best option is to just not engage with it. "One drink is too many, and a thousand is never enough."

Yes, there are plenty of bad AA programs, and plenty of people who will use them to access vulnerable addicts, but there are far more good ones. They provide a community, a group of people that you can talk to about the things you've done in the thralls of addiction that won't judge you for it, but won't coddle you for it either.

Yeah I can get that. I'm sure there are great groups/programs that do genuinely help people.
But at the same time I think generally if someone is an alcoholic they probably have a host of other issues (that are sometimes just a result of alcoholism). It kind of feels like to me that any program should look at their life as a whole and try to empower them to fix anything themselves and not just solely look at alcoholism.
