You really don’t need to be greasing a probation officer to get permission to travel. I took a job with a company doing 20 trade shows a year, I was constantly out of state. After the first few times they no longer wanted me to fill out permission requests and just told me to call him and let him know when I’d be out of town. You being out of town is more convenient for them. They know it’s a week or longer where they may not have to check up on you or write up a violation (ie you won’t be getting arrested in town) and they won’t be getting a 3am call about you.
