I think there will be a Sheriff election for the county in 2026. From looking at the public disclosure filings from the 2022 election (which I posted earlier in the thread), the campaign donations are relatively small—maybe $15,000 total, at most, for the current Sheriff, Eric Tollefson. His opponents had vastly smaller donation amounts. I don't think it's very smart to antagonize a website that has raised thousands just for the bodycam when that website can be wielded effectively to support your opponents in a small town election, but that's just me.

I am probably reading the wrong so someone who understands legalese more than I do may be able to comment, but from a quick look on the Minnesota Department of Administration Data Practices, they suggest that the body cam footage (in this case) would have to be retained for at least 90 days after (i am guessing) judgement?
