Communism in China was built during the Civil War, by men. In 1930s rural China during the Civil War, they did not yet have the problem of sensitive fuckboys being bad at attracting women in a masculine way. They had arranged marriage. The problem people cared about was the decades of war, strife, and hunger. The CPC built its base in the rural, northwestern parts of China and following the Long March they deliberately excluded mainline Stalinist-Marxist advisors and doctrine. Maoism was built on the rejection of the urban-focused revolutionary strategy of Lenin. Mao was a populist and him solidifying his power at Yan'an was not the result of sexual manipulation of men by women professors and thots. It was the 1930s in rural China. The values you believe people had then? They didn't have those values!
During the GPCR, the government ruthlessly purged academics and their families and sent men and women alike down to the countryside. Anyone with the stink of education or not being a pigfucking dirt farmer got condemned to indefinite servitude as a pigfucking dirt farmer's farmhand. The Communists once in power didn't feel a pressing need to convince women to seduce men. Nor was your gender-based idea of the world one they held, generational and familial patterns were more socially salient than a contemporary liberal 'identity' based politics.
To the extent that Communists were active in the cities in the 1920s, they were purged pretty brutally by the powerful alliance of Shanghai opium dealers and Nanjing's government. During this period in the 20s Mao was borderline homeless and living in Shanghai's French Concession and was essentially a nobody in the party. It wasn't until nearly everyone above him died or was discredited by military failures that he was able to form and solidify a cult of personality and/or theoretical framework and revolutionary doctrine (depending on how generous you are to his innovative political and military strategies).
You don't need thots to win over peasant farmers. All peasant farmers, men and their women-slaves back then were easy to manipulate, because they were illiterate peasants. The Communists promised everyone liberation. Liberation from tenant farming and coerced labor, liberation from outright slavery or subjection to monarchs, liberation from the awful gender relations of any Asian society, liberation from ignorance and the dead-end of peasantry. People believed these lies because they came with guns, basic education, food, and defensible bases from warlords and their drug gangs.
