I know it sounds crazy but they're not a monolith and this group is not the majority of the left. I'm a man on the inside here, I have extended family who work for democratic candidates and friends who range from "liberal who still thinks it's 1998" and "2010s feminist who just wants women to have a space". None of them are happy trump won, but there's a degree of confusion and anger at their own side i never thought possible because they've all come to be aware of clown world.
If i had to guess I would say the true clown world left is about 20% of the democratic party alltogether. Don't get me wrong, that 20% got the most crucial positions of power, particularly in media and academia (and jannies), and more importantly they have the most motivated footsoldiers (the ones who will attend protests, riots, and astroturf social media). They did a remarkably good job cucking the remaining 80% into thinking it was go woke or lose, and they also did a good job at keeping the moderate dems in the dark about clown world. Keep in mind 90% of over 50 dems just watch CNN which avoids clown world topics and pretends it's still the bush era, They have never seen a BLM riot, a cartel execution video, and the idea of a tranny raping his disabled mother is unthinkable to them.

It actually started with the russia situation and israel situation (those events fucked the leftist narrative in more ways than can be listed), but then the results of the 2024 election were probably the most important thing that has occurred in 20 years, not because of the outcome itself but what it forced the more sane members of the left to notice: Something was rotten in the state of denmark. How the fuck did that many latinos vote for the guy who wants to deport them all? How the fuck did california move red? How the fuck did all these zoomers vote for the republican? What the fuck is white dudes for harris? How the fuck did he win the popular vote? What the hell did they do with all that campaign money?
Which brings me to:
This is no longer an option. Secrecy was their most important weapon and it's gone, they exposed their true intentions too soon and people aren't interested.
The problem is that it's not clear who the leadership is anymore because the party is balkinized, those polls last month showed AOC was viewed as the leader but she's still only 20% favored, and as i explained above leftists figured out how to astroturf polls. The changes in direction you refer to aren't uniform, they're all turning them against each other.
The unstoppable energy for the woke movement came from the idea that they were "on the right side of history" which attracts people who are conflict averse and want a tribe. But now that all the factions are fighting each other There's no safe thing to say anymore so it's no longer an ice cream machine of easy social clout. This is how movements die:

And now there's no more straight white men around to be the lightning rod for all their anger.
You can talk to any old timer and they'll tell you the hippie movement died the exact same way.
The longer you keep his family in the US the longer some leftest will fight to get them free. If one thing the Trump admin has learned is that you need to move FAST and HARD before the lawsuits start. Nothing beat a answer to a lawsuit then "Sorry its out of US Jurisdiction".
