Let's Players originating from Something Awful - ft. VoidBurger, General Ironicus, Bob Kamoc

I can't remember when or where he said it, but I feel like I definitely remember him making a vague reference to the portrayal of trans people in the game making him not want to LP it.
I can't remember where he said it though so unfortunately I can't provide a source. It's possible I am just remembering wrong but I don't think so.

A game being unfunny and shit has never stopped him LPing something in the past though.
I believe he mentioned it for DP2 in amongst a myriad of complaints. ETA: SGF said DP2 was more "annoying and boring" bad than "haha-Wiseau" bad.

Strong disagree with your prediction: I remember thinking the same when troons started colonising the stream chat (think characters with names like TRANS-substantion or whatever). Within a year, nothing.

SGF seems not-autistic enough that he probably took against their narcisstic attention seeking and plight-sperging and just grey-rocked them so hard they ceased to exist.

Chat is still on the woke side of the line, but I've never heard SGF sperg about real-life politics or chant the mantras, and he rarely does anything more than a bit of classical leftist "ironic endorsement of end-stage capitalism" shtick.

Maybe just rainbows on my part.

Found out that Kole Ross of the Duckfeed podcast network has trooned out. Not sure if many people in this thread are familiar with him, since he's primarily a podcaster (although he does some video let's play streams as well), but he started out with the Watch Out for Fireballs game club podcast on SA in like 2011. This one hurts, since I've listened to his stuff for such a long time. It's like seeing a parasocial friend succumb to crack.

I always had the other guy, the one with the soft voice, from his podcasts pegged as the one who'd do that.

The fact that to these people Giant Bomb is "voidburger", Dan and the fat diabetic who doesn't take care of themselves tells you all you need to know about the state of Giant Bomb.

Dan went on a stream rant and has been muzzled. God this is amazing, Void was too worthless to be kept until the whole industry collapsed.

Fun starts over here:

Anyway, this means that low-effort libtard posting market is full, so I think we're goign to be seeing a lot more Voidburger thirst traps as that OnlyFans becomes a reality

Rest in Piss.

ProtonJon has a long enough history that he might deserve developing a thread on, especially since his future looks bleak.

I disagree. Most of Jon's antics are isolated and widespread across umpteen years of streaming. If he's a lolcow, he was an absolute dry one pre-Claire.

If you must, the really bad stuff was in his Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta.

Jon does not like streaming RPGs, because in an environment where fans want to do everything in their power to handhold you, Jon wants fucking none of it, and wants (DEMANDS) to have zero spoilers for any gameplay based context, so that the precious blind playthrough remains un-impeded and pure. This isn't even story based stuff. Four Job Fiesta is a personal challenge run where you are locked into character classes, so if you don't have encyclopedic knowledge of how the overall game functions, gonna have a bad time.
Needless to say, chat cannot help themselves with what they assume is common knowledge, and not even having an intruding news ticker on the stream asking not to be spoiled mattered in the least.

And it came to a head where one of Jon's mods was on co-commentary, and let slip a small piece of information about a boss that he assumed Jon was made aware of... he wasn't.

Hijinx ensue.

This is the moment that kind of turned me away from Jon, because Jon has one of two moods. Either he's laughing like a buffoon at glitches or general gaming disbelief, or he's absolutely fucking miserable that his chat-voted game requires him to... git gud, and said chat usually instructs him on the gud gitting.

Jesus christ what a fucking tool

All of these "don't spoil me on literally anything even accidentally or I'll freak out on you" faggots need the rope.
Or at the very least, they need to recognize the medium they're using. A big part of the appeal of live streaming is talking about the gameplay. With RPG stuff especially, it's going to happen because, for a lot of people, discussing builds and theorycrafting is part of the fun of RPGs. Doubly so if you're doing a challenge run of something, because that implies already having an existing and usually fairly deep knowledge of what's going on. A lot of challenge runs are based around building towards XYZ to beat said challenge.

Not to say there isn't a place for blind playthroughs. But that place isn't livestreaming, it's through LPs. People will still spoil stuff in the comments, but you can simply not read those. Plus, if you're like any reasonable YouTuber, you have a pretty big backlog so the stuff they're commenting on won't matter for the next X amount of videos, even if you do see it.

If you sit down to watch Game of Thrones with group of friends who have already seen it and scream "no spoilers or I'm kicking you out" why the fuck did you invite friends over in the first place?

I have thoughts on this whole thing, as someone who casually watches content from Chuggaaconroy and his friends (Mainly NCS and Jon via TRG, not so much the dozens of other randoms and literal whos)

I was aware of the RosaJon stuff going on, and initially I assumed it was pandering to the SJW crowd to try and foster a "dedicated" audience of those types since they are ripe for turning into paypigs. SJW people tend to be more likely to develop a parasocial relationship with content creators they identify with. The thought that Jon was actually trans didn't come up much, but it did, as like my second or third guess. So when this announcement happened, no I wasn't surprised per se, what DID surprise me was the handling of it all.

I am legit impressed that Jon is allowing people to continue to use he/him pronouns and even the name Jon, without resorting to calling it a "deadname". This detail is the only I can praise unconditionally. The rest of it though? Okay, hiding the fact you were on HRT for a couple years before coming out publicly was decent... trying to make it seem like you look DRASTICALLY different is what kind of counteracts it though.

Either way, this is the difference between someone older coming out VS someone younger and likely more foolish. That said, I have my reservations that things will stay good long-term as I'm seeing mixed signals all over the place for this. It will be interesting to see what develops on TRG should I decide to tune into that, I suppose.

What difference? This dude seems like the definition of arrested development, not someone older and wiser or whatever you're talking about.

Also, trooning out seems to have put a permanent AGP smirk on his face. It was funny watching the reveal video, seeing it come on his face in real time and never leave it again.

Yeesh. The difference I was talking about is how most people when they come out expect everyone they know to be able to re-adjust to the new pronouns and identity with the snap of a finger, lest they be considered a bigot or what have you. Mentally ill shit, you get it.

It's also worth pointing out that Jon seems to be obsessed with wearing a jacket for some reason.
