One thing people fail to understand is that the entire US economy is in huge trouble if Spending gets within limits because of the system we have and not based on the logic of it. People forget that 1 Trillion spent by the government does not equal 1 trillion added to GDP, it adds about 5 Trillion.

As an example, if I buy a truck load of garbage bags I spend $1000 : That goes to GDP.
The company where I purchased it from purchased it from a wholesaler : $500 to GDP.
The other $500 goes to employees, drivers, the electric company, the city council for rates, etc: $300 GDP
The other $200 goes to profits for the shareholders or owners, they spend it: $200 towards GDP.
The wholesaler pays $250 to the factory: $250 to GDP.
The other $250 goes to shareholders,. They spend it on food, groceries and living: $250 to GDP.
The company that sells the groceries to the owners in the previous mentions then spends it: $200 to GDP.
Etc. etc.

It goes on and on. but by and large $100 pumped into the economy changes hands multiple times and at each step it is counted as GDP.

If the American government trims 1 Trillion in spending, it removes over 5 Trillion from GDP.

You can see where the US spending has ended dup by seeing where it ended up: In the hands of the ultra wealthy. If it does not move from their paws back into the economy, then the system breaks down. And it has been broken.
