I think this is the case. I had a hell of a time solving a coding puzzle on one of those coding challenge websites because the solution worked on my machine but failed when I ran it on the website, and I eventually realised VS Code was "helpfully" removing stuff like spaces and any 0s before another number from my parameters, completely fucking up my tests.
