I want everyone to know that this is the tip of the iceberg and things are way worse. There is an entire system set up for scamming the VA (and thus you and I) and people coach each other on how to do it, you can even pay to have someone use their social network ("I know a guy who works at the VA") to help process paperwork and say the exact things to maximize benefits for the coveted 100%.

What does 100% get you?

• Free healthcare
  • With priority care (above pleb non-100% vets)
• Various state benefits
• Jobs benefits
• Loan benefits
  • Home loans
  • Student loans
• Tax benefits
• Various discounts on various services and programs offered by the government

If you ever talk to someone about it, they will say things like "The money is already set aside, may as well get it." That's over $3,800/month for the rest of their life, tax free. Or a free $45,000 a year spending money to do whatever they want with. No, it isn't "set aside" for the rest of their lives prematurely. They have no clue what part of the budget it's even from.

What is 100% disability?
There's the obvious stuff like loss of limb, blindness, etc. But that isn't how most veterans achieve 100%, and it is an achievement they strive for. The system allows for compounding various issues which is why everyone, even a soldier who only ever sat at a desk, claims tinnitus. Free 10%.
Now add on migraines, back pain, foot pain, knee pain, PTSD, sleep issues, etc. Pile them on until you get the coveted 100%. This might take multiple tries but you have resources to help you word it just right and say just the right things at the VA visits so they maximize the percentage.

The vets abusing the system are going to destroy it but they don't care as long as they get theirs.

i'm also a fan of the work Elon has done with Tesla. creating electric cars that actually look kind of cool and setting up a nation-wide network of charging stations is the most you could ask of anyone trying to make electric cars more popular with the average person. trying to force everyone to use electric cars, even when it doesn't make sense, is a sin of the government and not him

Electric cars are just a scam though, His work at Tesla doesn't seem to matter much outside of exploiting brainwashed people with too much money. Don't get me wrong, if the Tesla money helps fund SpaceX's future then fair enough but I don't think there's much value to Tesla's technology. The most impressive thing about Teslas to me is that they have so many cameras on them covering every angle around them so there's no blind spots which have been proven to be more than handy.

I also saw a Tesla that looked more like a normal car but it had a giant windshield and sunroof combo where they were the same thing but the top of it was sun shaded and I do think that looks very cool.

If I lucked out and got a windfall of money I’d seriously consider a Cybertruck. As you said the camera and navigation systems are amazing.

Also I feel like I’m getting raped by mechanics. Maybe it’s bad luck or I’m a sucker. But I’m so tired of being told my transmission has a problem and I’ll never have another mechanic fuck with an engine again.

Make sure your contact list is fleshed out, they may pull the rug fast or it may take years. If you have a 20 year track record, get an LLC setup for consulting if you don't have one already. There is a massive call right now in domestic manufacturing, at all scales, for experienced people who can analyze, plan and execute. A lot of places are hiring remote or hybrid and are settling for candidates w/o direct manufacturing background because they have to.
