A huge audience existed for the Wii, though and the Wii U was just a more powerful Wii that came with an extra gimmick controller. You could play most games with a wiimote and waggle to your herat's content, just as you could on Wii. Besides the poor marketing, I think people were also just over the Wii and motion controls.

Again, I don't think you're going yo see a collapse like the one in the jump from Wii to Wii U. I do think it's going to be more of a DS -> 3DS or a PS2 -> PS3 decline.

With the notable exception of PS1 -> PS2, no console has ever broken 100 million units and had its direct follow up do the same.

If I never played any of them before then I'd agree. SMB3 is at least tied with DKC2 as my favorite platformer, but I can only beat it so many dozen times.

Wii U, at least, didn't. Switch 2 has something like a million preorders in Japan alone.

I wonder if JoyCon drift will be a recurring issue once more? Nintendo had a class action lawsuit dismissed regarding it, so maybe they just don't care?

This launch could be a great time to film attempted scalper bulking jobs in stores to openly fuck with them and redirect angry redditors upon them for extra entertainment, this won’t be like the PS5 launch where they go into the red over hoarding systems so might as well do funny things to funny ghetto morons.

If there were people at Nintendo that had a love for their job and their games it would be no problem to make it possible. Nintendo just doesn't care.

I'd rather them just make a new installment in the series that's heavily inspired by GX and adds some of the new mechanics from F-Zero 99 to it as well, unfortunately I don't want to pay $80 for that nor do I want to buy a Switch 2 so I'm gonna have to stick with other non-Nintendo futuristic racers from now on.

I actually watched this video and it did touch on something I didn't think of before. The fact that the Wii U actually had a really cool home screen and menu system where it's a literal online hub where your miis can run around and talk to each other or display whatever art or something. That's a really cool idea and especially so for a more family friendly oriented console. He mentions in the video that kids don't have online spaces where they can just have fun and be kids anymore because everything that was exactly that, including the Wii U, was shut down. I really do feel bad for kids these days, it feels like the world has started to leave them behind in a lot of ways.

Blame the adults. They continue to do this psychotic thing where they will give them the entire world in their hands and yet keep them away from anything exciting because it "might warp their fragile little minds" or whatever bullshit they come up with to justify their thinking.

Give them online access to say fuck to random strangers, but DON'T show any ounce of creativity! Everything must be safe and bubble-wrapped, bland and boring so they can't show any emotion!!!
