Why hasn't Trump released the files then?
It's a politically, ethically, and legally hard issue to navigate. As has been said many times, Epstein had ties with tons of upper crust types, and those ties ranged from incidental business dealings all the way up to DPing literal children together. For how much of a monster he was, he was highly intelligent. If they just declassed tens of thousands of documents and told us to have at it, how could we possibly hope to differentiate between people who happened to be at an above board party one time and those that used his parties and contacts to abuse children? This was intentional, by design, in my opinion, to muddy the waters and make investigations difficult. It is my opinion that the absolute worst thing you can be is a child predator, and I am uncomfortable putting that tag on anyone without rock solid evidence, which is why I find Elon's accusations so heinous. Either he knew Trump was a pedophile and child abuser and aligned with him pragmatically, or he is lying, and accusing Trump of being the most heinous thing imaginable out of spite. Either one of those options are horrific.
I want to be clear, I have been exceptionally outspoken in my disdain for Trump, on his policies, how he talks to people and treats them, and his loose morals and adultery, however, despite the fact that we know he was friends with Epstein, I am not comfortable calling Trump a child predator. I am not comfortable with saying anyone that was associated with Epstein is a child predator just because of those associations, and for that reason, I think handing the public a list of names without solid evidence or facts is a terrible idea, and releasing redacted files is just going to fuel more conspiracy.
I don't know what the correct move is, but none of the options are particularly good. I don't blame anyone for sitting on their hands hoping for a breakthrough.
