I'm not saying I think it's kayfabe, but I do have to say that Trump didn't seem too upset by Elon crashing out when fielding questions about it today. If he can maintain this same level of calm in the next few days as this story unfolds, I will find that interesting.

I'm not sure the gravity of what's happened has really hit him or he's a bit too confident to realize it.

People on the Trump side are eager to make use of government power to get their way and reshape the country to their vision, but that's only possible if everyone on the Republican side feels they have to obey Trump to keep in the good grace's of voters. So Musk pretty much giving Republicans cover to break away is a pretty big issue. He gives them an excuse to disagree with Trump while not having to take as much ownership of it.

And if Trump really has a goal of reshaping the country, that kinda goes to shit if you have a slew of politicians that feel they can just get funding from guys like Musk to help them do their own things separately from Trump.
