If you stepped into any contemporary art museum they are filled with experimental, highly audacious, and confounding shit imaginable.

I'm not going to justify the gallery because let's be honest they are probably led by elitist snobs who are being funded by people who want a tax write off, but I'm willing to bet most of the get off on the outrage that is caused by putting up such a gallery.

The real art is convincing the gallery owners to put your troll piece up.
As they say, trolling is a art.

The main misconception both lay people and some researchers have is that the AI is a singular permanent entity, and not just a slop generator that answers a series of questions from a single customer and then gets reset to its default state.
Even if you keep a long session with the AI being given access to some tools with real-life impact, it will not be able to coordinate with any other instance of itself, for multiple reasons. And then you'd probably reset that session, as I've noticed that long sessions tend to make LLMs unpredictable and hallucinate more.

That being said, that video works as a silly little piece of sci-fi.

But even then, it takes long enough for it to perform its reasoning, choose an action, receive new stimuli based on that action, and reason again...and also have enough memory/context to do this to achieve long term goals...that it doesn't seem like it'll be a concern for a long time.

We're advancing quite quickly given our current circumstances and before we know it AI will probably be more than just "tell me a story about a redditor dying from eating dog poo".
