When the girls were still missing, I saw people arguing that being homeless doesn't mean you're an unfit parent, and even without a home he could spend time with them at a relative's house or park. You know damn well if the mother was homeless and mentally ill and the father wasn't, she'd be chastised and only allowed supervised visitation, and people would cream themselves over what a fucking prince the dad was for being a functional human being.Three daughters dead after visitation with father. Dad is a homeless, possibly armed, mentally ill veteran living out of his car from campground to campground and he gets fucking visitation rights? Not to mention that he has untreated BPD, had emotional meltdowns at drop-offs, occasionally abandoned the daughters or made them sleep at an armory surrounded by dozens of strange men, and had them walking on eggshells because he was so unstable. But nah, one false report of raising your voice will definitely get your kids taken away from you. He didn't even pay child support (being a transient) and the ex still wanted him involved in the daughters' lives.
The whole thing is absurd. "Father's rights" don't override the health and safety of their children. But their children are just trophies and pawns to use in a chess game against their ex.
