By and large, they really don't. What the RCC had (and still has to some extent) is a culture of concealment that ensured that molesters would get away with it, so the ones in there had amplified abilities to get victims. I'm sure these policies also attracted some people who knew they'd be allowed to get away with it, too, but I think it's more the policies than the general population.

Your kid is probably safer in a church than a public school. I can think of at least three utterly blatant pedos just in my high school. Only one of them even ended up fired.

What they also conveniently fail to mention is that most of the child abuse in the church is male on male. I can't conceive of why they would leave that detail out.

These guys a lot of the time will hire a girl for their whole time there, its very much a girlfriend experience type thing - you go to the beach, you go out to eat food, and you probably have filthy monkey sex three times a day or however often you can get your dick hard. And its like that for 2 weeks or whatever. That would cost an absolute shit ton of money in the States, in Thailand or Flipland its pretty easily doable by someone with a decent job back in the first world.
