Wait a rape scene, really? And I'm surprised that it's getting mixed reviews given how desperate his fanbase is to suckle on his toes. I did always notice that Deltarune didn't have nearly the amount of a splash as Undertale, though. It was never going to be as big.

In one route the player can choose to have the PC, Kris, force they/themself on another character, Noelle, whom they quasi-sexually harass in earlier chapters if so chosen. Kris forces a ring on Noelle's finger after she begs Kris not to, and at release it cut away to a graphic of a rose deflowering, Kris implicitly using they/their nonbinary dick to rape Noelle's virginity away. Toby patched it out when the (obvious to anyone not retarded) rape allegory became controversial. I can't find a webm of it handy, but here's a video of a fag talking about it:
Could have shown that using literally anything but an actual flower withering away after Kris getting uncomfortably close to her, like, holy shit. You can't fuck up that bad without it being on purpose. The only winning move was not attempting the visual symbolism at all, just cutting to black. As such, Toby's intent was clear.
That's not that hard to believe, to be honest. People who are involved with a project for so long often lose the outsider perspective. Particularly if that story was worked and reworked a few times and/or they started with something worse as their first draft.
