You know, watching some of these videos I am struck with how beautiful LA actually is. I've always imagined it as a concrete hellscape, but all those tree lined boulevards, and beautiful civic buildings, there was once an LA that was filled with people who really took pride in their city and viewed as theirs rather then an economic zone that belonged to everyone.

California is really a beautiful state. It's a shame Ronald Reagan granted millions of illegals amnesty, turning what was once a solidly red state into a 3rd world bazar. Imo, other than the traffic and cost of living, it's not nearly as bad as people think it is. It's just a shame it has been taken over by 3rd worlders.

The things you don't know. Often times Marines have no ammo. Have a story i told before on here about my time in Kuwait where had to get a Marine to the airport. My captain ordered me and my local to draw our m16's with no mags or ammo, dress in our desert commie bottoms (pants), and black sweatshirts. The person going to the airport was in civvies. So you have two marines dressed like dime store terrorists with empty weapons driving a third all around Kuwait ro get to the airport...

Agree. Cheering this on is short sighted. This response is Israel and the protestors are Gaza; regardless of the rights and wrongs, the appearance of excessive force will lead to condemnation and retaliation. If anyone is killed, they will be martyred, and it will be portrayed as an ethnic cleansing and be used to make reasonable opinions on mass/illegal immigration look genocidal and murderous.

As much as I hate illegal immigration, people DO have a right to free speech and to protest - even if I totally disagree with their cause. There is a legally valid protest in there somewhere, underneath the rioting.

I'm sure alot of it started going downhill. Especially since Rodney King. But at one point it seems there really was a sense of civic pride in that town. I'm an architectural autist. I notice these things. My local county built a Greek Portico with doric columns for their fire department. Out of wood yes, but they did it anyway. I noticed this too.
