Undertale

I just realized that Ch3 and 4 didn't have any memorable music (except the Knight boss theme)

What a fall from grace, Toby Fox known for writing good story and music failed hard in both chapters
This shit literally sounds like a lost turtles in time level and has been stuuck in my head since I heard it, god help me.
Most of the other tracks I remember are remixes of prior stuff though which says something I think. (see: catswing)

Also if that leaked chapter 5 knight re-match theme is legit then

Alphys is either the knight or the knight's creator
>Alphys created Flowey out of dead Asriel
>Alphys created the Amalgamates out of dying monsters
>Alphys created the Knight out of dead Dess (?)
Everything bad is this retards fault, what sort of Frankensteins Monster experiment will she do next!

The last thing I'd criticize about the new chapters is the music, it was still enjoyable and catchy.
It's certainly much more bland/uninspired compared to 1&2, but that's only a reflection of the new chapters quality itself.

The Alphys image there is from Dorked's Inverted fate AU, here's her profile. While the theme could certainly be a WIP or even finished, I have no idea what Captain of the Guard Alphys is doing there. Either way I don't think she created the Knight, she's a recent addition to hometown although not as new as the Sans, and has nothing to do with Dess. Honestly I found find it very weird if she had a hand in creating the Knight.
Now working alongside the Knight due to Undyne being captured, or fighting the Knight to free Undyne I could see.

alphys.webp
edit: I do hear a bit of Alyphs in the theme, but I also hear a bit of Berdly in it around the 3:50 mark and that sort of thing is inconclusive unless somebody with a talent for music actually inspects the song.

I fucking hate Alphys so much.
She's like the one thing that really pushed me when I did Genocide in Undertale. "This is the only way to kill that stupid fucking lesbian".
If only Toby let us murder her in a normal playthrough.
Then again, perhaps making True Pacifist impossible like that would've been too much.

This [CRIMINAL], <imposter syndrome> USER is clearly sm0king something rancid.

I would've picked "Everlasting night" instead of dark sanctuary, but tbh one is an end-credits arrangment of the latter so...
Chapter 3 is toby pushing his quirky lmao humour all over the place and end the whole thing abruptly with introducing an actually terrifying villain. Chapter 4 is him showing you what would happen if he were to contain it within 2-3 encounters and then do his best to deliver something undeniably beautiful.

Good point,

The song is likely legit tho, Toby's lawyer immediately went SHUT IT DOWN.

He's been an enigma who we barely know anything about for about a decade, now
Uh, he's Ness dude. We cracked the code years ago.
and instead of explaining to him the difference between humans and monsters, gave him a horn headband to try to make him happy
It also is implied that Toriel specifically feels a bit in over her head with the needs of a human child specifically. She checked out the "How to Care for Humans" book at the library a bunch of times through the years.

She did not have this problem with Asriel, or it was at least less pronounced, though given Ralsei's propensity to withstand any kind of punishment with a smile maybe he had similar issues but was just better at hiding them rather than acting out.

Mattpat doesn't get enough credit for that, he jumped to the wrong conclusion but he did all the work and effectively figured out Sans is from Deltarune before Deltarune was ever a thing.
In hindsight, Mattpat literally got as far as possible with the information that was available at the time that Sans is from another game entirely.
It's just he made the connection to the Earthbound Halloween Hack when he should have been making the connection to "unreleased game Toby Fox will complete in a decade and a half", what a fucking dipshit!
Hell, even the Earthbound thing isn't that bad considering Toby keeps fucking reusing Megalovania.

Alright lads, it's time for a CRACK THEORY
>Toby knows the VAST majority of players are autistic and gonna go for either the Snowgrave or True Pacifist
Snowgrave end sequence:
>big bad evil tries to use the SOULs 'level of evil' to end the world or whatever
>thanks to snowgrave, your level is high enough
>prophecy on track
>someone is sacrificed to save the day
>there its only one ending

True Pacifist end sequence:
>big bad evil tries to use the SOULs 'level of evil' to end the world or whatever but can't because level too low,
>until they notice you collected all the shadow crystals "this'll do"
>prophecy back on track
>someone is sacrificed to save the day
>THERE IS ONLY ONE ENDING

>Gerson mentions 'between the lines' on how to change fate
'Normal ending', some crystals, aborted snowgrave etc
>big bad evil tries to use the SOULs 'level of evil' to end the world or whatever
>thanks to not committing to snowgrave, your level is NOT high enough
>prophecy not on track
>thanks to NOT having all of the shadow crystals they can't be used as a substitute
>prophecy broken
>everyone survives
>multiple endings depending on who you keep around, etc

lol can you fucking imagine?

I have been trying to play through Deltarune chapters 1 and 2 to remember everything before starting chapter 3, and it's taking me significantly longer than I had expected. I should have replayed the chapters two weeks ago when I had time.

Is it worth trying to remain spoiler free?

If you're secret boss hunting, you can easily fuck yourself over and have to restart chapter 3 without spoilers.

I liked the hammer of justice.
Yeah, I loved that!
WHY WAS IT SPEAR OF JUSTICE?!

I love leitmotifs, don't me wrong, I fucking love the little details in the Undertale soundtrack, like how you can hear Heartache in Asgore's theme, but you can't heart any of his theme in Heartache. It mirrors how she can live without him, but he can't stop thinking about her. But, I digress, it was... Odd? To me? To hear Hammer of Justice, and know Gerson was the shopkeeper in Waterfall, and Undyne was kidnapped... What does it mean?

Is it like [Big Shot] having Battle Against A True Hero and The World Revolving mixed in? To give us the idea of what Gerson was supposed to be?
