Several people killed in school shooting in Austria's second biggest city, police say

Police said they deployed in force to the area around a high school in the northwest of the city of Graz after shots were heard.

At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a school shooting Tuesday in the southern Austrian city of Graz, local media reported.

Austria's interior ministry confirming that several people had been killed at a Graz school.

A police operation was underway at the BORG Dreierschützengasse school, a secondary school located in the northwest of the city, Austrian police said in a series of posts on X.

The police added that several emergency services, tactical units and a helicopter had been deployed to the area. “The situation is secure. No further danger is expected,” it said in a post on X.

Police spokesman Fritz Grundnig told Austrian public broadcaster ORF that police had evacuated the building after gunshots were heard.

Those injured included students and teachers, who were taken to the nearby Helmut List Hall events space for emergency care, according to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

A meeting point was set up for the students’ parents at the ASKÖ football stadium, the police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspected perpetrator was among those injured.

The Austrian interior ministry did not immediately respond to NBC News' request for

Exactly. If this shit was actually about revenge there is a whole catalogue of both terminal and non terminal options against those who allegedly dun buwwied him or allowed him to be buwwied. He passed over all of these in favour of murdering children because he wanted to murder children, knowing that this was the most efficient way of gaining instant infamy and/or causing the maximum suffering as possible on as many people as possible.

I should note that Germanic countries (Germany itself, Austria, Netherlands, prob could include Scandinavia too) have EXTREMELY strict laws on naming perps. On the opposite side of Ze Pond the media blasts all identifying data about perps within 24hrs. It is generally believed that giving criminals sensational coverage and turning it into a big circus will make it a much more attractive proposition to weird faggots to do dumbshit to gain at least a modicum of media relevance - even just for a short while post-mortem. No same here, they'll wait with releasing names quite a bit and might not always release the full one. Depending on if it's in the best interest or not, often when it comes to police investigations. Victims however are generally protected. Unless they choose otherwise or come out themselves.

As other said, usually not full names, just first name and first letter of the last name. They will, however, often say the nationality it it wasn't an Austrian.
Ask any shitlib here and they'll complain about news agencies saying "Afghani immigrant suspect in yet another case of a woman being killed", as if its not a legit thing to add lol

Not uncommon in continental Europe as most countries have very strict privacy laws that even covers criminals.
