At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a school shooting Tuesday in the southern Austrian city of Graz, local media reported.

Austria's interior ministry confirming that several people had been killed at a Graz school.

A police operation was underway at the BORG Dreierschützengasse school, a secondary school located in the northwest of the city, Austrian police said in a series of posts on X.

The police added that several emergency services, tactical units and a helicopter had been deployed to the area. “The situation is secure. No further danger is expected,” it said in a post on X.

Police spokesman Fritz Grundnig told Austrian public broadcaster ORF that police had evacuated the building after gunshots were heard.

Those injured included students and teachers, who were taken to the nearby Helmut List Hall events space for emergency care, according to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

A meeting point was set up for the students’ parents at the ASKÖ football stadium, the police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspected perpetrator was among those injured.

The Austrian interior ministry did not immediately respond to NBC News' request for
comment.

Arh worldnews is in full shut it down, the local subreddit is locked, arh Austria has a majorthread and is pretty even headed, arh Europe, being filled with NGO bots, is talking about "Americanization". I hate to speculate on these things this early, but I highly suspect it's going to be a very different ization. I don't buy that aloha snackbar video being legit though.

I'm curious about the weapon since Austria has strict laws, reload seems slow
No, maybe Switzerland but not here. Chances are more likely he stole it from parents, grandparents or the families hunter. Here you need a test each year, etc etc etc.
Contrary to popular belief, you can just buy a basic shotgun as an Austrian citizen without a lot of fuss - just gotta wait 24 hours to prevents crimes of "passion". Agree on your 2nd post though - Lots of people have pistols too and if you've had it for a while, there's a decent chance they forget to check up on whether you are keeping up with your tests - so it might indeed be simply from a family drawer.
> Be European.
> Get your daughters raped and murdered by diversity.
22, ex-student that got megabullied - sounds more like a polfag tbh.

I don't get it. If you were bullied and want revenge, then start with teachers' lounge. Europoor schools have universally adopted this "no tolerance" policy for bullying, which in practice means they punish the victim as harsh as the bully, or even more harshly if the victim tried to fight back. Kids are stupid, they're not fully sapient and they're not fully responsible for themselves. Why shoot them, when you can shoot at an adult that facilitates bullying?

Because it aint about revenge. Mass shootings (and I would argue a fucktunne of terrorist actions) effectively just boil down to a particular kind of suicidal psychopath wanting to end their own existence (either by way of a bullet or by the rest of their life in jail) in a way that hurts as many people as they can solely because the infamy they gain or the pain and chaos they cause gives them the existential thrill they have been dreaming about for however long they have been planning this shit

The past decade plus of currentyear has shown just how fucking absurd and depraved your garden variety autist will act should they become fixated on getting attention or bothering those around them for their own gratification even at the expense of their own futures. In this sense you could almost look at nihilistic mass murder incidents like this as being the psychopath's analogue to trooning out.

They definitely have American conditions, I bet this shooter isn't White.

72 hours I believe, but yeah pretty much for shotguns. Handguns though need a license and psych test and regular range tests and at home visits. No idea how that's handled in areas with more hunters, but at least in the Vienna state they're hardasses. Else hunter licence, or just need a relative with a license and access to their safes. At least that's how it was the past few years whenever anything happened.

We just don't talk about the missing military rifles. All two of them!

Why shoot students that likely weren't even there when you got bullied?

5th grade in Austria is about 10-14 years old, right after primary school. He couldn't have know them if he's 22.

Weak. Goes after ones even weaker than him bc he couldn't hack it or get over primary school shit
.

Good riddance. Fitting he shot himself on a toilet.

Besides which, if it was beef with the school itself then why not just fucking arson it like a respectable schizophrenic?

Because it was not about the school. It was about escaping all the boring normalfag responsibilities and becoming the main character in his own edgy fanfic for however long it took to murder a dozen children and giggling about how much this would freak people out, how much this would constitute some victory over all the family members and associates he seethed over, and how everyone would know his name as a 2edgy4u killer, right up to the point he put a bullet where google told him would be the most painless place to shoot himself so he could enjoy a perma-nap.

Update - according to Austrian newspapers, the shooter had acquired both shotgun and handgun legally. So Austrian citizenship for sure.
Update 2 - shooter is now (13:20 Austrian time) confirmed to be among the dead.
Update 3 - press conference at 15:00 Austrian time.
Update 4 - post press conference: 21 year old Austrian citizen from Graz, weapons acquired legally (one small arms, one long gun), no rap sheet, former student, dropped out of school (this is pretty rare in AT) - motive still under investigation.
Curious how they don't have name out but already have cause.
I know this is strange to people from other countries unfamiliar with media laws in other nations (and I don't mean that cynically), but newspapers in some countries including Austria have a tendency to not publish names of anyone connected to a crime immediately as there are a litany of laws and codes surrounding the issue of publishing identities of criminals in general (usually the reasoning is because someone is a suspect until proven guilty and as such, deserves protection until due process has been served) - it is entirely possible that for quite some time you might only get a first name + first letter of their last name in newspapers and even that can take a while. The prevalence of social media and this type of news as sensationalism (which the press code that almost all major publishers in Austria subscribe to usually opposes) has eroded these traditions somewhat, so that some newspapers that enjoy a similar public image as say "the sun" in the UK may attempt to circumvent these codes, but for a small country like Austria, they are still typically respected by major outlets.

It will actually be interesting to see how long this tradition manages to hold in a case as sensational (not in the positive sense) as this one.
