Putting one lethal round in each magazine would work wonders. Would cause mass confusion, people might think there was a second active shooter and panic. Every non-lethal round would have the psychological impact of a lethal one as far as fear was concerned once a few people were hit. Would completely break crowd cohesion, give the government plausible deniability, and not result in the sort of mass-casualty event that would allow the legacy media to pull on the public's heartstrings. Any people injured in the stampede could be arrested and deported/jailed.

It's kind of odd that out of that whole conversation you picked the scenario which limits death and maximizes arrests as evil. The guy I was replying too literally wanted to just hit the protesters with gut shots and let them bleed out screaming in agony, and the part of my post you cut off referenced Napoleon firing cannons into crowds during the French Revolution.

In any case these people being here causes way, way more bloodshed, heartbreak, and suffering than even the Napoleon option would cause. It's just easier for people to ignore because it happens at the margins of polite society. I am absolutely done feeling sympathy for them at this point. Secession is just talk, primarily because of the economic cost both of an actual secession if it were to succeed and the process of secession, which would destroy the seceding states.

It's difficult to justify destroying one's own economy and infrastructure and the lives of a fair portion of one's population, especially if one attempts to justify it in terms of benefit to those same citizens.
