Up here in Leafland, we have something that idiots do, called "Land Acknowledgements" where before giving a speech or public statement, an official will say some dogshit like "I acknowledge we are on the unceded territory of the [insert tribe or multiple tribes, cuz there's overlapping claims] First Nation(s)." There's been people suspended from their positions (like a school official) who have refused to do this, even though it's not in the policy. During a search where time was of the essence in Nova Scotia, for two very young children that went missing, the RCMP cop reading the statement said,
"First, I acknowledge we are in Micmagee, the traditional and unceded territory of the MicMaq people, I also recognize that African Nova Scotians are a distinct people whose histories, legacies, and contributions have enriched that area of Micmagee known as Nova Scotia for over 400 years."
