I think it is likely what it's about, but Nick is doing his usual obfuscation. He is trying to get ahead of it, but knows what's coming is going to be bad, so mentions buzz words, omits other stuff that makes it believable. Then later there will be "I never said that"

Its just speculation. But one way that can happen is someone reporting clear physical signs of abuse (or violence in the home) without actually seeing it occur. Nick's black eye was and is a kind of troubling sign in itself. There is also nothing really unusual about drunks and drug addicts getting violent with each other in a trap house.
