You keep bringing up the Iliad, but that was only a small portion if the epic cycle. There were many stories told about the trojan war, and Homer was merely one of many to add to that oral tradition. Because greek mythology was a work of the greek PEOPLE and the PEOPLE could shape it how they liked.

Western culture for MOST people is marvel movies you stupid dolt. Whether it’s passive or active comsumption. You don’t like the implications of this, because that means the things you value-classical lit, the Bible, whatever doesn’t have the same meaning or influence over people’s lives.

The reason liberals use Star Wars or whatever as a political metaphor is because people interpret events through the lens of storytelling, comparison and allusion. Ever since tribal shamans did spirit dances-people project themselves into narratives, narratives shape how they see the world, whose good, whose bad, who they are. What they believe and where they are going.

I am not defending Marvel (or current) Star Wars-I am explaining to you human anthropology. People see cultural and political conflict through a narrative lens. Through the lens of shared stories and mythmemes. This can be the Bible, the Iliad, Arthurian Legend, or any other source.

And the dominant and most meaningful narratives today are the ones listed.
